The Faith that surrounds Deities like Moriya no Kami and the Mishaguji span to Jōmon Era 15'000 years ago. The actual practices that belong to this faith was very interesting for example the Ohfuri were 3 Virgin boys who had three companions (Also boys ) but which were chosen by the Gods through possession. They were seen as the God Child between Mishaguji and sosou Gods (who are accounted as Genderless /Sexless Gods) who can chose any Gender as they perform their Deities. Is mostly known that Mishaguji even as a Sexless Deity would at most chose Female and would then become a Mother God. The Ohfuri (virgin boys) were only only seen as a product between these Gods , The Ohfuri itself even though they were a boy would be seen has having a Womb who had a God inside (Mostly a Grain deity). Is not too known what would happen next wether the Ohfuri would then perform a ritual of being buried or being isolated so that the Grain God would be born and the whole cycle would start again. Another thing I noticed is that Suwako Moriya is seen as a Frog and many people might thing is because of the Buddhist story of the Red frog/Frog in general visiting the Suwa Shrine which is a Strange phenomenon that happens only in the Suwa Shrines. However the connection with Frogs is much more ancient than Buddhism. Along with Moriya no Kami before the Buddhists took over Japan , Moriya No Kami was connected to a very Secret Frog God who was said to be PART of the Practices with the Mishaguji rituals. You'll see that in Vocals or themes of Sanae or Kanako (Yasakatome no Mikoto) or Suwako (Moriya no Kami) sometimes have very "Christian References " this because of two Things 1. The Suwa Shrine was used to defeat the Christian Crusaders so it alludes to the fact that these Mountain Gods were successful against Yahweh (Who is another Mountain and Weather God) 2. Comes from a Theory that the Indigenous people of the Nagano Prefecture came from the Levant (or that they were Jews) and the name Moriya is close to a the name of an area in Israel with a very Similar name Moriyha (something like this) but this is more of a Conspirecy theory. The Suwa Dieties are seen as the Gods that can defeat a Foreign Mountain God (Abraham faith) and therefore just like in Touhou they are seen as ranking above this God or replacing it. (Kind of how Yasakatome fought against Moriya no Kami two Mountain Gods) though is said this story was made up by the Yamato regime to take over the Nagano people so they use this story of Gods to spread that message across.
