Hello do you know what boat ramps are safe to use on Kansas River? I fished by Eudora over 20 years ago thinking of trying to fish again. Thanks for videos on flathead fishing pretty awesome.
@CatfishKC3 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching!! Ive just used the boat ramps in Lawrence, DeSoto and Edwardsville and they are good boat ramps. It depends on your boat if it's a heavy boat that hangs down far in the water you might have a hard time dropping in but, if you have a smaller boat or one that doesn't hang down in the water a couple of feet, you should be fine dropping in. I have dropped in at Kaw Point which is also a good ramp if you want to fish either during the day or over the night on the Kansas closer to the Missouri River. The gate does close at that ramp at 10:00 p.m. Turner Diagonal boat ramp is one that I would say is not safe because there's a lot of interesting things that go on there as well as people's cars that get broken into and things stolen. I have gone to Turner many times but I wouldn't suggest it to people because I know a lot of people that have gotten their windows broken and things stolen. Hope you find this helpful!

Jingle Bells Baby!!! But, this is Matt, was it me using the bells? I used to use them years ago. That might have been Nick that was using them.. That's also a very noisy damn where you can't hear yourself think, so we usually wouldn't Rock The bells because I know they're so uncool nowadays, but I can see maybe Nick had a bell or two on because of the rushing Water and it's hard to hear. don't worry we're up to speed on what's cool and the bait clickers are what's in baby!! 💯

Longview full of some big flat heads and a lot of nice clean channel cat but you need a boat to get over there in the trees and I can catch a boatload every time
@CatfishKC7 күн бұрын
I haven't fished Longview very much but, Olen with KC Rodbenders who I went with has really found some of those spots on Longview that produce some big fish. Like you were saying, there are some big flatheads in there and actually he just did a guide there the other night and got a really nice size flathead. I've realized when fishing this area, you can always learn from those around you and that's why I stay humble and actually enjoy listening to people's experiences and learning new things. I appreciate the comment!!

I have a Berkeley big game surf rod with 30lb big game trilen what rig do suggest running for big blues and flatheads?
@CatfishKC13 күн бұрын
I don't get too crazy with specific rigs and I try a couple different ones while I'm fishing. I generally would stick with the Carolina rig with maybe an 8 oz no roll or a 8 oz Bank sinker on a sinker slide. Then a swivel and then a 50 lb+ or more leader. I have started putting on a float just to get bait off the bottom a little bit if possible. I guess that would classify as a Santee Cooper. The 3 way rig is helpful and has helped save me a few times with the weight breaking off instead of the fish, but sometimes in high current the three-way rig seems to get tangled a little bit. so it just depends on what current and also I test out a couple while I'm there. I also like using mono as my main line but I do have braid on one. I use 40 lb mono mainly on my main line. 30 lb is perfect. The other night I was using a Carolina rig with the Gatorade float bottles 😂.. Which I would change if I did it again. Probably would have had the bank sinker not on a slide so it forces the bait to stay at a certain level.. Especially with the larger live baits. Good luck!! I didn't realize how long this message is 😂...

We've got each other's back and have been through some things in life together. We call each other out if we need to. But, you and other people that comment or communicate with me , I don't take it lightly. I started this channel number one because I love fishing and Kansas City didn't seem to have a KZbin long form Channel. The other reason was to get involved and be a blessing to whoever I might be meeting whether on a bank orbat the boat ramp or wherever. I appreciate and truly feel blessed when I get to meet new people because, we only live once and you never know when you can be a blessing in someone else's life. People have definitely been a blessing in my life that I've met through fishing.

I understand where you are coming from, but flathead catfish and blue catfish love eating bass, crappie, bluegill, sunfish, carp, Asian carp. Asian carp is actually one of the most popular baits on the river right now to use. I know that some people don't understand or think it might be clickbait, but the reality is, that all of those fish I mentioned are getting eaten by large catfish every single day whether they're on my hook or in the water that they live in.
