Was it Clickhaze or Eivor solo (with band) I've noticed this guy with hat on guitar before... I'm playing a fool, I think this song was from Eivor's second album - but it sounds like Clickhaze...😀🤟
@greggmoore8998 Жыл бұрын
The song is from her second album, Krakan. The guitarist with the hat is Benjamin Petersen of The Faroe Islands. He's not listed as being with Clickhaze on their EP album...he would have been a bit too young for that. He is on quite a bit of Eivor's work in the 2007 general timeframe. Quite the guitarist and showman. Love this version of the song by the way...tremendous energy and superb vocals.

Not thanks to the feminist movement anyway, to her roots.
She's from Faroe Islands, but she's singing in Icelandic.

Strangely reminiscent of Leonard Cohen's "Dance me to the end of love". Maybe he was inspired by this beautiful song?
@GudmundurHrafn10 жыл бұрын
This song is from the 1950s I think, surely much older than Cohen's song. Both good songs though.

***** That's the way I meant it - maybe Cohen was inspired by this one.

Saw that Jon Gentry talked about someone not qualifying to comment here due to there lack of knowledge. Couldn't reply to him directly but I am doing it here. I just had to! Iceland wasn't sold to Denmark from Norway in 1262. That's the end of the Icelandic civil war where big viking families fought against each other for power in Iceland but one family saw that they could have more power than any other if they would team up with the Norwegian king. Which they did and they won which made Icelanders sign up on "Gamli Sáttmáli" or "Old Covenant" which meant that Iceland went under the Norwegian king. It was called a "union" but it wasn't although Alþingi (the Icelandic Parliament) was still working. That was in 1262 and is probably the darkest time in Icelandic history. Iceland then was in a union called the Kalmar Union which was a union between all of the nordic countries. After the collapse of the union Iceland was in a union with Denmark and Norway. When that union also split up Iceland went under the Danish king in 1814 and then the Icelandic independence movements started growing and Icelandic hatred over danes started growing. Which eventually led to Icelandic sovereignty in 1918 and complete independence in 1944 and the forming of the republic. That's the facts.

From the Faroe Islands I Think but I might be wrong the music and Eivor.
This song is an Icelandic song named Frostrosir by Freymodur Johannsson (1895 - 1973). It was very popular about 1950-1960. Here Eivor Pálsdottir syngs it in her amazing way. The Icelandic Symphony orchestra is playing. Eivor is from Faroe islands. I think she is one of the best in the world.

There are very few songs and singers that I believe could sound great in a recording which has been worked upon as well as in a live performance. I believe I have just found another of these singers. I however don't really feel anything for the song, nothing special to me. But again the two thins that make the performance great is the orchestra as well as Eivor.
