I also took the ferry from Bari to Durres and back last year, and it was my first time as well. I didn’t find it complicated at all, as you described it. I don’t know what you did wrong, but I received an email with the information that you have to be there two hours before departure, and that the digital ticket needs to be printed on paper. I also got a text message the day before. But sure, you can make it complicated if you have no idea what you’re doing and then blame everyone else.

Hi WDTW, A great video well shot, but think yourselves lucky that your ferry company was GNV and NOT Ventouris, (the ship next to yours at Dures ). Sadly I was unlucky and chose Ventouris's ship called Rigel, my experience follows, just compare my experience and you will realise how fortunate you've been. Good luck and safe journeys. I hope you dont mind me commenting like this on your channel, travelors like us need to be aware of the sharks in the Ionian sea area. lol RIGEL VII A FERRY WITH ATTITUDE - BEWARE, NOT A NICE PLACE - Cash or Menaces Rigel VII at Sami I was held back, After a very fraught time with boarding pass I was loaded, 18 hours later I drove off at Bari, was detained by official and port police who asked for docs, I showed ticket numbers, he took my tickets and passport. He said I had not paid for car and demanded 85euro the aggressive officer said I would need to pay him cash, I asked to pay by card but this was denied, so for my passport I paid him 85 euros and was able to leave Bari Port. In UK this is blackmail Sadly the Ventouris Ship resembles a camping expedition! Most passengers take inflatable air beds, sleeping bags, pillows and even igloo style tents, the air beds are placed everywhere, the tents are around the decks, it often becomes impossible to walk around them, and the stewards/staff don’t even attempt to discourage this phenomenon, even though according to Ventouris regulations, it is not allowed for anyone to sleep in the lounges, bars and corridors. The passengers, (lots with young children) where sleeping in corridors, under the main staircase, in the bars, I have never experienced anything like it, the smell of foot odour (people took off their footwear) is not pleasant, I even witnessed dog owners (who don’t want to pay for the kennel facility) are taking their pets around the decks for their toilet needs during the 17 hour crossing, and also taking them into the Aircraft Seat area, Lots of the seat occupiers don’t even bother to buy tickets for the airline seats, I arrived at my seat number to find it in use by a passenger who wouldn’t move, even after a steward reluctantly came to assist me, was unsuccessful in evicting the Albanian lady, so I was advised to sit in any vacant seat, outrageous, I am in the process of complaining to the official’s about the conditions on board, and the even worse treatment i got when being accused of not paying for my ticket ! I’ll explain...... on boarding Rigel VII at Sami I was held back from driving up the ramp, after a very fraught time and numerous attempts showing my ticket information the loading officer eventually allowed me to drive on, 18 hours later after the nightmare journey described above I drove off the ferry, but was detained by a Ventouris official on the dock accompanied by a port police officer who asked to see my documents, my documents clearly showed my ticket numbers and the 385euro bank payment, he then walked away with my tickets and my passport. The Ventouris official again insisted I had not paid for my car, and until I paid a further payment of 85 euro's I would be detained in the port, I had little alternative other than to pay their demands, the aggressive officer returned and also said to get my passport I would need to pay him cash, I asked to pay by card but this was denied, so to be able to continue my trip I paid the 85 euros and was then allowed to leave Bari Port. I am (and several of my family) are regular ferry users from Italy to Kefallinia, but we will definitely not be using Ventouris or their Booking Agent Marketou Travel in Sami ever. They have already lost two crossings to Minoan Lines, who I highly recommend.

Great video, brilliant to see Kilchurn Castle from the Drone. I've only seen it from the road or Railway. In the 80s I was a Signalman and the line between Dalmally and Taynuilt was my South section. North to Oban. It was great having Ben Cruachan as your office window. Keep up the videos
