We haven't tried that one. Is this one that you use and have had success with? From the specs, it looks like it could give these other options a run for their money.

Been using Firemaple (116Ti version, have 3) for years. Checking aliexpress, you can still get it for a steal at around the 25-30 buck mark.
@Oh_Its_Jo9 күн бұрын
I've never understood why the less expensive options always get so much flack for being "cheap" on other channels. They do the same job, yet I would argue costs a fraction of a "true backpacker's" loadout, ease of cleaning/repair is pretty straight forward if you do have an accidental drop or knockdown, and the added bonus of a wide fire means you can put a decent sized pan on to cook up something as well. I would love it if you guys did a cook test, cleaned/repair test, and give us the real weights of each setup. Great video, guys! Keep up the good work.
@trailtheory4 күн бұрын
Right. More expensive doesn't always mean better, that's for certain, but less expensive options can come with durability/reliability issues. The one issue we found with our low-budget option here (Ozark Trail) was that it effectively busted after it's first use. While the performance wasn't all that different from the others, one could argue it's worth paying more for a piece of kit you'll be able to rely on for years to come. And that's a great idea! It would be fun to put a full kit through the paces. Thanks for watching and commenting!

What is your base weight? And how do you like the disco?
@trailtheory4 күн бұрын
My base weight is just under 20lbs, and that is including some audio equipment that I bring along for recording. If not for that, I'd be down around 17lbs before consumables and worn clothing. I love the Disco! It's not too restrictive like some mummy bags can be, it packs down well and it's insanely warm. Depending on the trip, it can almost be too warm, so it may not be the best option for trips where it's not getting down into the 30s at night. Thanks for watching and commenting!

My base weight will fluctuate depending on the camera gear. Without camera stuff I'm around 15lbs but with it I'm at 20lbs. I used to be super critical with being as ultralight as I could but I love those creature comforts when I'm on the trail HA! - Brian

We are working on getting older episodes up on the KZbin channel so eventually yes. But in the meantime, you can listen to all the episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcast, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music and a few other platforms. (All should be free to listen.)
