That antenna is for cross banding between a handheld walkie talkie and a mobile radio with cross banding repeater feature.

Cheap Chinese. Made to receive UHF from a portable. For cross banding. The mobile r -transmits on VHF.

Pretty cool, I liked this. I seen your video on military vehicles , wonder if you knew another radio operator from MI. Vietnam vet named Buddy Ray A.

The Aaron Tippin song “Big Boy Toys” was going through my head whole time I was watching this video! These trucks are awesome, I would love to build a mobile hamshack in one! I always thought I was the 1008 kinda guy but that 1009 is awesome!

Could you possibly do a video on the 1952 GMC M135 6x6? I've got one and am still trying to figure out all that these old monsters can do.

Behold the predecessor to the crossover/suv, the station wagon. I just love how some guys are like "it's a dodge Magnum" I'm like "ya it's a station wagon".

Same for me, i test it with AA-600 analyser, no possible use for ham on VHF, terrible SWR ! Seems to be ok on UHF...
@VickyGeagan

That is because it is designed for cross banding. It receives from a portable on UHF the mobile transmits on VHF.

@@VickyGeagan - And bad SWR is bad SWR despite if cross banding or not. If the radio transmits on 2 meters this antenna has unacceptable SWR for this band.
@brianjohnson6094

I Don't know what you mean by really low SWR??? The one I bought was greater than 2:1 over the entire 2 meter band but actually not bad on the 70 CM band...
@VickyGeagan

It is made specifically for cross banding. between a mobile and portable.
@dereklea1183

@@VickyGeagan - People are reporting unacceptable SWR in the 2 meter band. During cross banding, the cross band radio acts much like a repeater. It receives a weak signal on UHF (70cm) and rebroadcasts the same signal on VHF (2 meters). If the SWR is unacceptable it’s unacceptable no matter if the radio is used for cross banding or not.
