@@thedrivewaydetailer You sealed in some water spots or bugs marks under the ceramic coating. If you watch the video slowly you can see them in the light on the drivers side of car. Good lighting helps and you probably needed to use compound on those spots before coating.

One thing I didn’t mention in the video was how neglected the paint was before I did the ceramic coating. The car is my father-in-law’s car. He recently bought it from a family friend whose father died recently. The previous owner had a lot of trees on his property so there was etching from bird droppings which had been left on the paint for almost 10 years. I tried getting to one spot on the hood, but it would have taken more time and skill than I had, and there was spots like this everywhere. The end shots do it no justice and I framed the shots so most of the etchings wouldn’t show. If this would have been a paying customer I wouldn’t even had done the job when I found out how bad it was, but I did it for free. Also, my father-in-law barely keeps up with his own cars so he didn’t really car what it looked like before or what the end result was. I did the job because it looked like a fun challenge. Hopefully the background helps you understand what I did and didn’t do. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks for the video. Mega foam definitely has impressive foam and is really affordable off of their website at about 50¢ a use per once since they run perpetual sales and have gallon sizes with a free 16oz thrown in. There are just so many better cleaning and lubricious detergents out there now. Not many can compete on foam volume but I’d say that’s the least important factor. If not the most fun. lol. I think I prefer the versatility of the Adams car shampoo but honestly have moved to other brands and almost always Rinseless wash now. Cool video I hope to see more.

@thedrivewaydetailer
@thedrivewaydetailer 21 күн бұрын
You can use Perl on Tires also. There’s a dilution ration on the bottle. I think the difference between the two is Perl is chemical that can be used on most rubber and plastics on a vehicle and DarkSide is formulated specifically for tires.
@chrisbradley3224
@chrisbradley3224 21 күн бұрын
Perl is shorter durability and a little more versatile as @thedrivewaydetailer mentioned. DarkSide has stronger solvents and is basically a polymer sealant type product. Perl is more classic in formulation. I prefer DarkSide on tires personally. The only downside is if you like to change up products a lot or mix in water based dressings. Once you put DarkSide on a tire you will need a good tire cleaner to get it off if you want the tire to accept water based dressings well.

Active will make available its 60-foot P/W hose around mid-October this year, at about $86.00. Using the wrong hose is the main reason these units fail. This sucks man. From this video, you seem like a very honest and reasonable person. I think Active should have honored their warranty. Since you're in California, we have consumer protection laws which doesn't require you to keep boxes for warranty claims. As long as you have proof of purchase -- as you do with receipts -- then you should be able to claim warranty service. Even though Active may not be based in CA, their USA website sells to CA customers and thus they will have to abide by CA consumer protection laws. Look into it. You should be able to file a warranty claim without the box as long as you have proof of purchase. Did you buy your first unit directly from Active or through some 3rd party seller? If it was through an authorize re-seller, Active is legally required to honor the warranty. Not honoring their warranty because of the use of an aftermarket hose is questionable. I believe you have legal recourse but of course that takes time, effort, and a little bit of money to sue them in small claims court.
@thedrivewaydetailer
@thedrivewaydetailer Ай бұрын
I’m not really the type of guy to sue for things that aren’t life threatening. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t get a new one through warranty, but it’s not the end of the world.
