Difficult to understand if you close your eyes and listen if it is an accordion or an organ playing... beautiful love this sound with this sublime music. Each note counts for Bach. A pure Genius thank you.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I play pipe and electronic organ as well as free bass accordion. I believe if Bach had an accordion (weren't invented yet) he would have preferred an accordion version. An organ is so much of a mechanical instrument, whereas the accordion thanks to its bellows becomes a breathing/singing instrument.To an accordion the bellows is like the bow on a violin or breathe control on a flute. And Samuele truly makes his instrument sing. Your dynamics and interpretation are superb.

Hey guys! just read all these lovely comments which you made and am so flattered and appreciate your kind words. A few of you mentioned Gould and he has been a huge inspiration to both of us throughout our lives - I still remember getting the CD of his (later) recording as a teenager. His approach to rhythm and pulse is crucial to these variations and something we always try to maintain. We will finally get to premiere the full set (with the repeats!) at the Dublin Internation Chamber Music Festival in June 2024 and are very excited to do so. Thank you so much for listening and taking the time to say such nice things xx

Although Glenn Gould set a towering interpretation of the Goldberg variations - he also said many many times (and demonstrated this himself) that re-discovering the piece time and again - every time finding new treasures, and different viewpoints - is what makes it real music. So -- the last thing on earth I would expect, or desire, is that you (or any other artist) would just retrace his footsteps. Of course your interpretation is what matters most! and it is a very good one! Please excuse me for finding even humor in some passages that make it sound like a Parisian valse, or... I don't know. So many colors, so many alternative feelings. BTW -- do you sell an album with this performance in good audio quality? I would VERY MUCH want to purchase it. thanks again.

ah no - that's too much praise! We both became huge fans of Gould as teenagers and remain huge fans. His approach to rhythm is so incredible. We started to play the Goldbergs together during the pandemic when we were not permitted to drive more than 5kms from our homes and certainly not rehearsse together so we recoprded our individual parts with metronome and emailed them to each other so the result is hopefully rhythmic (with a good sense of pulse which each variation absoultely needs!)

just our own - nothing other than dividing up the part (no major re-arranging required) - "you play the upper line and I play the lower line" when there is a canon I played the lower voice and bass line and Merint played the upper voice. I think the individual voices of the canojn work well with 2 players.

NICE!!!!! never have believed it is even possible, let alone satisfactory, as a musical instrument for these variations. I admit I nearly gave up by the middle of the first Aria - maybe because It really doesn't "sing" well on the accordion , but the next variations are each better than its predecessor.... VERY WELL DONE! Bravo!

This is a wonderful, entertaining and honest insight into the life and career of one this country's best jazz singers. Like all truly great jazz musicians she sounds absolutely unique... identifiable after just a few bars. Thank you, Norma! ...and the folk who put this film together.

A fascinating insight and many surprises shared by Willie Cooper in this thoughtful interview by Christopher Cook whose cultural history talks we have also enjoyed so much at Deal Festival this week . Willie has been extremely helpful and instrumental in our enjoyment of the festival this and in previous years which we all missed last year due to the memorable lockdown ! We are indeed the lucky ones ........ to still be here to have the opportunity to live and enjoy another day or week of music which isone of life's great joys , essential, therapeutically and so life affirming ! Willie is a lovely lady and clearly incredibly organised.The festival always seems to run very smoothly despite the large range of events at different times throughout the day but nothing ever feels rushed and there is always a very calm, welcoming, relaxed welcome and a wealth of information available at the concerts which enhances the programme . All the helpers and ushers too carry out their duties so efficiently , discreetly and calmly, never with any officiousness ! Always so friendly and accommodating . Coming to Deal from Herne Bay myself too, and a musically orientated Convent School education there too, just as Willie described, is a shared experience which I am interested to learn more about .Those early days make all the difference ! Was it St Annes Convent nearby in Sturry or La Sainte Union Convent in Herne Bay , by any chance ? I went there from 1974 or 1975 too but sadly they stopped teaching senior girls shortly , unbeknown to my family at the time when I joined the school which became Philip Howard Prep School. I remember vividly how sad I felt on the final day there that I had to leave and was the last one out, as usual ! I felt the happiest in that school of all my time in education. I can totally understand how the school life there or in similar convents would have contributed to Willie's activities and interests thereafter . Thank you so much for all your help towards our enjoyment of the Deal Festival. It is an absolute gem in the mid summer which we look forward to so much. It is always full of musical surprises and well worth attending.Great fun , joyful, educational and inspiring. This is down to Willie and the Team's hard work and dedication on behalf of the community. There is something interesting and accessible for everyone and in beautiful venues and surroundings. Thank you so much. Roll on next year's festival 2022 !

The drummer is completely lost
@tunhale
@tunhale Жыл бұрын
You say the drummer is completely "Lost"? Is this some new term like "Baad" or "sick" meaning "good" or is there possibly something awry with your musical understanding? Lots of people including Lenny Kravitz and Wynton Marsalis think Jas is pretty fluent and reliable. Remarkable even. Everyone is entitled to their own taste and opinion but I don't hear her being lost in this chune. Are there some other criteria at play here in your judgement?
