OR, just just a damned paint tray. OR, just use a one inch foam roller in a cup. there are so many stupid things that happen when you use a foam roller this way....the man in the white bunny suit attempts to address the "ridges" that created with this dumb angled roller method...instead a company like eastwood prefers to show you how to make rolling epoxy and very awful way to do it that will require a LOT of work later to get all that stepped ridge out...Might as well just dump epoxy and spread it with a brick. This is a very dumb way to roll epoxy. No one should be shown to do it this way. Awful...stupid...and wrong.

I did this the following day and it was only air dried. I had a fender that looked like Niagra falls. The clear was finish one. I dunno if I got lucky, but it's doable in a pinch if you need the car out the door.

Have you measured the clear coat thickness with a digital paint depth meter? I’m curious to know how much clear is left compared to the surrounding areas ?

And if it's just clear coat you don't need the Bondo wet sand and clear it again
@davebrewer3535 Жыл бұрын
That's a good trick I've used it before my question is why are you mixing the bondi with the spreader shouldn't you be using a paint stick so you don't get your spreader messed up with some Bondo and some hardener trying to spread it on and getting the wrong mixture and then it won't stand off mix your Bondo with a paint stick it saves you a lot of grief

First of all, a good painter shouldn't causes a run. well, ok, no one is perfect. Sh** happens, and when it does, don't fake it by removing the clear coat and replace it with polish. Redo if it is taking you more time. You screwed the job, you fix it right, don't screw your customer.

There can't be enough clear left after doing this. It should be flow coated at the least. If the painter is running clear this badly, he shouldn't be painting.

I was hoping that one of these videos would tell me how to connect the compressor to the pressure pot for painting. It looks like the spray gun has 2 inputs, 1 for the air and 1 for the paint. I only have one line coming off of the compressor, so do I get a splitter and split the pressure between the two or do I have to get a second compressor to feed the pressure pot while the first one feeds the gun? I asked the store where I purchased the pot and they are somewhat less than responsive!

You need a gun that takes an air and fluid line, designed for a peessure pot.

Scraping a razor blade over the run is faster, easier, and less material.
@patricksantana33373 жыл бұрын
Using that DA sander is not a good idea for Harry homeowner. As mentioned by others, start with a fresh razor blade and scrape the bulk of the run off first. Then you can move to 400-600 grit on a block. I am shocked that he didn't cut thru on this job. Must have had a lot of clear on that panel.
@pdmaheshsharma3 жыл бұрын
very true not a good idea with DA he must have put 6 coat or clear lol , i never use 400 or 6 00 on runs after blade just block 1500 than 2000

Ask the experts at Sherwin?? Next time your rep is sharing his expertise on ANY product or piece of equipment, invite them into the field to show it to you using best practices. Unfortunately their expertise starts and stops with the fine tuned skill of regurgitating what they’ve been told at the innumerable trainings and conventions. Which btw, are incredibly well thought out. Right down to the VERY INTENTIONAL omission of any hands on product training or competitor side by side comparison. But after they’ve told several hundred times the start to really believe it..... kinda brilliant in a way, but very misleading for anyone looking for actual information.

Paint paddle with 1200 grit wet or dry sand paper wrapped around it. Stay on top of the run when standing. Then go to 2000 grit and buff. Idk who shoots a fender vertical, indtead of horizontal, there would be less of a chance of running.
