I didn’t see anything, and I found that surprising given the high ridership.

I know vid is two yrs old. But the strange open tall concrete cylinder is a cattle feeder. I am 67. I remember the cattle being let off from freight cars to be feed and watered on way to market in NY CITY. In those days. The Erie bulls or Erie Lackawanna rail road police. Still patrolled the 8 sets tracks behind the station. And the coal was still stack 20 feet by the round house. You know kids would play on them.

Bismarck is a former Northern Pacific Depot, it even has the logo on it, other NP depots that are still around are Mandan, Glen Ullin and Dickinson which is still being used as a yard office. Soo line depots are still around as well with one in Wilton, and Minot which became the Minot rail museum. Steele depot is at the Mandan rail museum, Sterling is at Buck stop junction and South heart and Taylor are near the dinosaur museum in Dickinson.

I went here during NJ TRANSIT’s fare holiday. It was a delightful little town. I went to the Fox brewery place. The guy was really cool and I stayed at the Erie hotel didn’t get a chance to go into the bar below, but I did love the Chinese food. Also, they have a little town Square that has a couple of picnic tables right in front of the Erie hotel. It’s such a nice little area.

Thanks for this Chris! I grew up in Ottawa in the 60s through the early eighties. Some things have changed, many still the same. I live on the West coast now and don't get back there very often. It's great to see those streets i used to ride my bicycle on, all over that town. The world is a big place, and I've lived in Massachusetts, Florida, Tennessee, Germany and Nevada. But Ottawa is where i got my start. Born in Ryburn hospital, directly across the street from Washington park (there's a bank there now.) My roots are in that town, but up in the branches the views are endless and more to my liking.

I did fuel tank inspections and did the Casey's gas stations in all of these towns every month. Left that job about 6 months ago and miss it dearly. Always loved driving up and down that river road. Nice to see parts of the towns that I didn't get to see. That was my hard week, left from Clinton Iowa and went all the way down to Troy Missouri and back up and around Illinois and back up to Clinton doing all those Casey's and Cricke K's plus the Sam's Club in Quincy. Usually managed to get it done in 3 very long days just to avoid extra hotel nights! Not much time for exploring but I remember stopping at the Jail in Carthage and getting some photos. Thanks for the adventure!

They moved that original Danbury Depot Train station. From where TrackSide is currently. I believe the historical society as well as quite a few donors saved it from being torn down so they could build now Current Trackside Bar and Restaurant. And yes they still run freight on those tracks.
