I agree! My Aunt used to me it but I was too young to remember the ingredients. There were just a few. Not 15 like the first recipe they showed.

Za 1. Maďarský guláš sa nerobí na masle, ale na bravčovej masti, prípadne olej. Za 2. Cibuľa sa dáva ako prvá a nakrája sa na kocky! Nedáva sa tam chilli, ale maďarská mletá "čípóš" štipľavá paprika. A "sweet red pepper" je čo??? Dáva sa tam typická maďarská korenina, ktorou je mletá červená paprika, ktorú Madari dávajú takmer všade, je to ich obľúbená a nevyhnutná surovina... A nedáva sa tam red wine, čiže červené víno, to sa dáva IBA DO DIVINY!

It looks amazing! I've made them in different ways before, also with a tomato sauce as many recipes call for and always with fresh cabbage instead of sauerkraut, but then I saw this short from the Kwook channel mentioning their version was with sauerkraut. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find many video's doing a version like that. I am super curious to know what it tastes like compared to the ones with fresh cabbage. I will have to go on a search mission to find whole leaves of sauerkraut or make them myself, as here in the Netherlands the stores only sell the chopped up stuff. To bad making it myself takes, ideally, at least 4 weeks, but as it's homemade, the taste should be better than store bought. I'm definitely going to give this recipe a go!

My father was born in Hungary - but it was my mom who cooked what I will call golash - and it was delicious. She was born in Lithuania but came to the USA as a preteen in 1920. I doubt she cooked much before then. However, now that I have gout in both feet and joints in hands are sore, I have to stay away from nightshade foods and seafood and red meat and processed meats and foods. Hard to do! Also, when I was growing up, my mother kept a kosher so mixing dairy and meat never happened!!!

Wenn es köstlich ist, spielt es keine Rolle, was Sie hineingeben. Nennen Sie es einfach nicht „ungarisches Gulasch“! Die Franzosen haben übrigens ein ähnliches, sehr leckeres Gericht, das auch alle möglichen Köstlichkeiten enthält, aber sie machen es mit braunem Bier. Es sieht dick und sehr lecker aus, ich möchte es irgendwann mal machen!

That meat was steaming in water instead of browning, overcrowded and should have been left alone, not constantly stirred, browning adds so much flavor And is that really Hungarian? With wine? I never have seen thyme in Hungarian goulash either, no tomatoes
