The Dreamcast was the only Sega system I ever had. I was always a Nintendo and PlayStation fan, but those NAOMI arcade games were too appealing to pass on the Sega Dreamcast. It’s a shame that it fizzled out in less than 2 years in North America . I continued to use my Sega Dreamcast after I got a PlayStation 2 for the occasional game of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and also use its Internet browser since I didn’t have a working computer at the time. Also having a Japanese import Sega VGA Box to connect to a computer monitor was a plus enabling higher resolution display. Along with a keyboard and 56k modem I had all that I needed to browse the web. Sadly my Dreamcast stopped working around spring 2002. I had a good few years with the Dreamcast.

my friend and i knew a guy who was burning dreamcast games for $10 and that sounded really appealing to us. we went to gamestop to go buy systems, and without looking up, the lady who we asked said we should come back the next day because the system was dropping in price by $30. we had put in orders with our friend for like 30 games each and were excited to play, so we said we didn't care. the three ten year olds next to us who were there together for one purchase all turned their heads to us. we proceeded to tell to lady helping us that we needed controllers, guns, vmus, the works. the kids' jaws dropped and the lady's coworker who was helping the ten year olds next to us kept walking past saying, "i hate you!" to her (jokingly). we got our goods and ended up stiffing the guy who made our games for about half - we thought the bulk purchase discount was fair. of course, we couldn't get more games from him after that. i don't feel my piracy directly impacted the dreamcast because it was already dead, but i buy my games now that i'm an adult and can afford them.

People forget that Sony hyped all there specs. They made it sound more powerful than it was. I liked Dreamcast games more and didn't think the PS2 was that much better if better at all. Sony did a good job riding the hype train.

Hot take: Even if I was born 2 years after the discontinuation of the Dreamcast, that discontinuation still hits me harder than the failure of the unprepared Ouya. Definitely one of gaming’s tragic systems yet still one of the champions of my book.

Always remember Christmas 2000. I got the Dreamcast with EVERYTHING. All the best games. MvC, shenmue, powerstone, soniç. Literally 50 plus games plus the Lightgun and fish rod lol i absolutely loved it!. It felt like a Arcade in my bedroom.

Yes, there was a Sega Saturn video game called Segata Sanshiro Shinken Yuugi that was only released in Japan in October 1998. The video game is based on the Segata Sanshiro Sega Saturn advertisements, and is a collection of minigames, with completing objectives in each one unlocking one of Segata's television commercials for view. Segata has also appeared in other video games, such as Rent A Hero No. 1, a Japanese game released on both the Dreamcast and Xbox and a remake of the original 1991 Sega Mega Drive video game Rent a Hero , where he serves as a martial arts instructor who can teach new moves to the main character. He makes a cameo appearance in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and is playable in Project X Zone 2 as a solo unit.
