The wiggles will always have a special place in my heart. I remember watching them on TV and singing to their songs when I was little. Wow, after so many years gone by, the wiggles are here to stay! Also, i am a proud Aussie myself!

I'm an American and the Wiggles are a part of my childhood. However, there was at least one time where i misunderstood what they were saying because of their accents. At the end of a Bob the Builder tape, a clip from Big Red Car (Dance Party in the US) played and at first, i thought the Wiggles said they were going tovthe dance potty, as in using the restroom at the dance. I think it was when the song played that I realized they said party and not potty. No offense, Aussies!

It's not just preschool shows my country traditionally viewed with skeptical ears and eyes. Pokemon was not only dubbed into English but edited to make it look and feel like a product of the United States. We had some neighbors with a 6 year old who loved Pokemon and even his mom had no idea Pokemon originated in Japan. It makes me wonder if it still would've been a phenomenon had they just translated it closer to the original Japanese, kept the characters' names and Japanese culture references and kept the original music. I even read that back in the late 50s or early 60s, a Soviet movie has its music edited for American audiences.

Actually, Ringo Starr did narrate most of the first and second series of Thomas for the US as well, albeit re-recording his lines to put more energy into his narration and even some of the dialogue was changed (although most of the British words were actually kept in the American script). Michael Angelis however did not re-narrate his episodes for the US except for a few select episodes from series 6 and 7 for a US DVD as a test to see how American audiences would feel about him being the new US narrator. Also, while the US traditionally re-voiced preschool shows for North America, especially in the 90s and early 2000s, there are exceptions such as Bananas in Pyjamas, Blinky Bill, Kipper the Dog and Rubadubbers. Unfortunately, the success of The Wiggles didn't stop the USA market from continuing to edit overseas preschool shows for North America like Tweenies, Chuggington and initially Peppa Pig, kind of like how the success of Blippi didn't stop companies behind reboots of preschool shows from changing characters into kids, nor did the success of the Muppet Babies reboot or Sesame Street seem to convince creative directors (or whoever makes those decisions) of shows like Thomas and Friends All Engines Go or Playdate with Winnie the Pooh that preschoolers don't tend to have a problem with men voicing kids (I don't have a problem with kids doing voice acting in general but I feel like too many preschool shows today are trying to copy other preschool shows and I feel like the preschool market doesn't have as much variety as it used to) and the success of Bluey didn't stop those reboots i mentioned from coloring in the characters' eyes and Mattel decided to reboot Barney into CGI despite Sesame Street still using puppets. The changes to these characters may help make them more relatable to today's little kids but clearly they can enjoy them enough without those changes. I hope companies start making the old versions easily available alongside the new ones because some adults wanna introduce kids to the versions they grew up with and not keep it to themselves.
