i LOVE your painting on Nietzsche ! I dont think ive ever seen a painting on that topic before but it's so beautiful (& meaningful) !
@MathieuLaca7 ай бұрын
Thank you! I was contacted last year by an art historian in Germany who's working on a book about representations of Nietzsche in contemporary art. She wanted to include it along with another portrait of Nietzsche I painted (on a bicycle). I don't know if and when it will be published but there will be major stars in it: Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer. If you're interested in a print of my work, I can send you the link. Best greetings from Montreal.

Noroc, to my favorite artist Mathieu Laca. I met thousands of artists of many sorts, via social media. But along side a Belgian folk metal band; Mathieu is the kindest and most charitable artist I have ever met/knew. He is the absolute greatest painter of our time, in my opinion. I make this statement based on the fact that, he is the only artist I am aware of to insert his tremendous, sense, and instinct of social awareness, and civic matters blending into his art. Few artists have the courage to risk alienating any portion of their potential market sales/shares; via taking a side regarding vital social issues, but Luca does. This proves he is an artist in the most pure sense, through, ignoring profit and money in the name of following his passions and heart in art. Sure he could pretend that racism, war, sexism, and homophibia, do not exsist under a false banner of uniting people and inclusion, but he knows better as a true artist does. Instead he seeks equality and justice in this world. Despite all that, he defied the odds stacked against a passion seeking artist vs. Capital seeking, and makes a living doing it...but his skill alone demand his art is noticed, even for those whom fail to see the passion driving the art. I hope one day society elevates to a point where all pure artists whom earned their place, may make a living doing art as Mathieu is. I was inspired to write this upon meeting and chatting with a kind like minded cab driver from Quebec today and telling him of my only northern Canadian friend Mathieu Luca. Talking to my new quebec friend Dimitri and Mathieu, offers me some degree of hope; that to my north in Canada there is light left for a better future and world. Oil paint from Kama Pigments. Because each layer needs to dry, it spreads on several days. I'd say around a week and a half in total.

Good you corrected the title of the video out of my suggestion of the error it was not NORA JOYCE! GREAT! YOUR TECHNIQUE IS stunning! Correct it too in the video, please where Nora's name stiil appears.
@isbelle1003 жыл бұрын
This painting is very good, but there is an error: it is not a Portrait of James Joyce and His wife Nora Joyce. The photo from which the painter is taking the models, shows James Joyce with his daughter Lucia! It is Not Nora! Be aware!
@MathieuLaca3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you're totally right. I knew it but hadn't corrected this video. Thanks for pointing it out. I initially made the mistake of believing that the photo showed Nora. It's mislabeled on several websites, the photo is unclear and she looks like her mother too, hence the faux pas.
@isbelle1003 жыл бұрын
@@MathieuLaca I Loved your painting very much though! Where is this painting now? And Lucia didnt look like her mother Nora! Give credit for the photographer too! Thanks
