Duolingo Definitely has a great approach when it comes to starting a new language... and the app being like a game gets your wheels grinding... first 30 days I already built up 28000XP what I can say is that I can read Korean for sure, construction of sentences is becoming a little bit more clearer and I've learned a bunch of new words. I think Duolingo is beginner friendly but if you want to learn the language properly, you have to use other means rather than relying on the app alone. I'll keep the bird for 2 more months and let you know if my perspective changed about the app

The girl is my friend! It’s a pity this creator didn’t provide any socials for the dancers so people could see more of their awesome work!
@KittenStant5 ай бұрын
I don't provide socials for safety and to avoid backlash from future drama. her name is included in the description, along with the other performers. edit: to be clear, I received spoken permission to post and I have not been directly asked to add socials. If she would like her socials added, she can contact me directly.

Great video! I'm considering staying in a goshiwon when I visit Korea in the future but I'd want to teach English classes for a few hours each evening from my goshiwon room. I've heard in a few of these room tour videos that being quiet is important so I wonder if teaching with my headphones on (essentially having the equivalent of a few hours of phone calls each week night) would be too disruptive to my neighbors. Thoughts?
@reallifekat Жыл бұрын
It depends on the goshiwon. I was in a shared work/student goshiwon, so it was important for me to be very quiet after 9pm so that people could study or sleep. There are other goshiwons that allow noise until midnight. You'd have to ask the owner of the building or the person renting it about that. As a general rule, though, I would say that hours of talking on the phone wouldn't be appreciated in a goshiwon. You can hear everything through the walls.

This was a very useful video but too bad I don't have the money to study abroad (and I'm not eligible for need based scholarships) I'm playing on visiting Korean in mid may for about 3 months and while I'm there I'm planning on staying in a goshiwon. How has your experience in a goshiwon been? also if you have time it would be cool if we could met up.
@KittenStant Жыл бұрын
The goshiwon has been fantastic, but I think I got lucky. I've heard horror syories from other people. I think it's important to read reviews and know yourself. If you can't be alone in a small space for an extended period of time, a goshiwon isn't for you. I'll make a separate video on goshiwons soon because there seem to be many questions

I tried to use duolingo to learn Japanese and felt very similar to what you've said. I've now switched to Pimsleur and find it SO much better for learning Japanese. I think you are onto something with how duolingo is great for the romanized languages. As I found it a helpful refresher tool for Spanish and French.

also over time, levels you master will "get old" / "break" and you have to revisit them (just one lesson) to restore it, and I find that rather helpful to consistently go back and refresh
@KittenStant2 жыл бұрын
The going back to refresh is really helpful, and I do like my timed recall, however, I don't think that the way duo does it is super helpful to me, but that might change if I use it for a longer period of time. We'll see. I might start using it again
@jennbee15412 жыл бұрын
i get frustrated with the sentences duo teaches. like why do i need to say this? however you dont have to fully master each level before moving to the next, you can do different sections at the same time and such, which helps switch up what you're focusing on. just since you said you struggled with how slow it was 🤷♀️
@KittenStant2 жыл бұрын
Maybe I should try using duo for a longer period of time. Or try switching it up. I'll try this and get back to you on how I feel about it. As of right now, I don't think this app is for me

OMG! I've just discovered you channel after spending an hour scrolling down and I'm extremely in love with your videos. I am really into reading since I was like 7 years old and because of the spark on your eyes you have when you talk about books, I guess you too haha. As you look honest and not exaggerated at all, I find your videos significantly more useful than other book reviews :). I love the way you tell us about the plots of the books and the emotions they make you feel and I also like listening to you because you have a great command of the authors’s writing, so I can learn a lot thank to you. I really appreciate that you scored the novels since that way I find much easier to decide which one I should buy! Could you please do a review of ‘To kill a mockingbird’?? I want to congratulate on you and I very much hope you keep uploading videos on KZbin for much longer!! <3
