But you didn't. That's a blue diode which can't etch stainless by itself, and then you did a switcheroo between what you started with and what you showed at the end.

@@DouglasBlack93 I'd like to apologize for the bit of snark that came out in that comment. I wrote that while still staring in disbelief at what I was seeing. I should have approached the topic with less snark and lot more curiosity. I have had an xTool S1 20 watt and though I've engraved a variety of different materials with it I have not seen anyone get that dark of an etch in stainless without the aid of Cermark prep. That bottom line is absolutely pitch black. I just now completed running both a Score and Engrave test array on a 12 inch Taping Knife to confirm i still have a little bit of sanity left and can't come close to that bottom line. If you haven't used any prep like Cermark then would you kindly share your XCS settings so that I can repro your success? I'd happily eat a bit of crow (and will do so in this thread) if it means I've got a new set of useful settings in my kit. (BTW, I do need to correct my original post. I said "can't etch" when I meant to say "can't engrave". Stainless can be etched by blue diode, it just doesn't do so good at removing stainless material aka "engraving")
@DouglasBlack9316 күн бұрын
@satxtrap it's my brothers machine. He said... "I chose Stainless Steel Necklace settings and picked out of the windows the settings of 95% power at 12mm/s for scoring and 70% power at 5mm/s for the engraving" The video changed on the second pass of my name as I put my phone inside the case. Not sure that helps with anything but just letting you know :)

@@DouglasBlack93 Hi. Thanks for those. I just finished running your settings converted over to 20 watt. That means my 20 watt S1 would engrave @ 35%/5mm per sec/120lpc and I got the same results I expected. Very light engrave. I see that you mentioned a 2nd pass so I even ran it again on the engrave. Happy to send you a pic of the taping knife with the test grids and end result so you'll understand that I'm genuinely flummoxed at your results despite having essentially the same machine and software, just different power capabilities. That last line of yours looks as black as a sharpie marker and I've only ever seen it that dark with a marking spray when using diode lasers. If you look up The Clack Shack channel he has a vid where he engraves stainless tumblers with and without Cermark. It illustrates my point perfectly. Cermark is $25 USD per 2 ounce spraycan. Not needing it to get those same results would be a big deal. Cheers

I would run into the traffic so you can see them and they can see you and you can jump into the bushes if needed. I have changed my lifestyle and fitness level after having cancer. I will have to live with that and fear of recurrence for the rest of my life. I do not have a perfect body do find myself judging people who are clearly overweight or unhealthy because I see their struggle or their misery. I don't look like instagram but I can run for 3 hours and walk all day. Fitness for me is about your body being able to access life. Instagram bodies are not always healthy bodies or fit bodies they are just good at manipulating their appearance. Will they still be able to sit on the toilet unaided at 80 because that is what I am aiming for!

I can relate in a somewhat similar way. My older sister, niece and mother all tear apart facial features and body proportions of women. Paying particular attention to how they are aging. As a 33 year old woman it really upsets me. Oddly enough these people are completely blind to perceiving health, vitality or character in any way 🫠 so frustrating. When it comes to fitness I more appreciate a body that is conditioned, strong and mobile. Show muscles tend to make me think of the limitations in mobility. A slightly higher body fat doesn’t flag my radar if I see them moving well. Too much fat and I’ll flag them as in need of a bit of help regardless of their quality of movement. Quality of movement is King for me, a bit of body fat doesn’t bother me male or female. More than a bit and yes I’d say lose the weight lol. Instagram models have no bearing on my views honestly. There is posing and there is real life and I’m in no way fooled by the platform. Thanks for bringing me along the run! All the best, from California US
