I’m sorry to hear your vehicle doesn’t match up. Usually when they do a face lift or if they have different trim lines it happens mid year, so it’s possible your vehicle was the previous generation or a different trim line

My car has a latch resembling the newer part you installed. I have no problem hooking the cable you did before tightening the bolts. My question is how did you get the cable on the opposite end into the metal oval piece? I for the life of me couldn't get it in there. The cable attached to the straight metal rod on the rear driver side. Any tips?
@GirlieGarage2 күн бұрын
It’s like a bicycle brake (you have to fit the end in, then work the cable around the edge). That might be the best I can give you without scheduling a consulting session so I can schedule a zoom or FaceTime to see what you are actually dealing with

Engine Air Filter Cost $12 + Stealership Labor Cost $33 (0.5 work hour)= $45 Cabin Air Filter Cost $12 + Stealership Labor Cost $33 (0.5 work hour) = $45 Total Cost $100 after tax (Actual time spent: 10 min). Yet they don't up charge that much for windshield wiper replacement because it does not require popping the hood or popping the glove box.
@GirlieGarage3 күн бұрын
Depends on where you live. Where I live, the stealership labor is twice to three times that!! This is why we talk about these items because usually you can do them yourself and also in case you don’t want to do them yourself so you have an idea what they look like when they are bad and what a reasonable price actually is. Thank you for brining this up

I would check your air filter and cabin air filter before going for the service. If it is clean you know you do not need it. If they demand you change them and you know they are clean, then you know they are up to no good. Thats is a fraudelent shop. Dont give in. They will hound you and make you sign something that says you dont want it done they try to shame you. DO NOT GIVE IN save your hundred dollars. YOu can buy these 2 filters very cheaply at a parts place.

I would disagree with the flushing of the transmission. A few years ago everybody was pushing that idea but have since realized it is usually not a good idea especially if the car has a lot of miles on it and transmission service has not been regularly done. Many times the transmission worked worse than prior to the flush. Just simply draining and replacing the filter then refilling is nowadays the best option. I know several shops that have the flusing machine sitting idle because they have seen it does more harm than good and nobody wants to buy it from them.

Want to make sure that you understood that the point of this video is to talk about many items that they often try to upsell you at the mechanic.
@tjtamisha76214 күн бұрын
@@GirlieGarage I realize that but the way it was presented on a transmission flush saying if it has been a long time and it hasn't been drained and refilled ( or regularly serviced ) that it might be a good idea but in reality that would be the worst thing to do if it has been a long time and not been serviced. Much better idea would be to drain and refill a few times after short intervals. Flushing a transmission on a car that has a lot of miles on it and maybe never had the transmission serviced could cause all kinds of issues with the transmission. I know some places try to upsell ""services"" which are totally not needed but I don't believe any reputable shop would be trying to upsell the transmission flush. It would just be asking for problems.

Hey I know this is a late question but what if I don't have an oil cooler and the part I have came with the nipple can I just seal it off with a hose or would I need a whole different pump?
@GirlieGarage12 күн бұрын
I think it would depend on how you seal it. Honestly coolant goes through so many extreme heat cycles that I can’t think of a great sealant. It would be preferable to have the correct part (if you have to wait to get it shipped, can you purchase it locally then return the one you order online for less $ to the place you purchased from locally?)

This video put me in the right track! The last time that I replaced the spark plugs (not including the coil) cost me $325.00! This video helped me do it myself. The most difficult part was unplugging the coil's connectors behind the plenum. You can only use one hand and these connectors are really tight. If you can get a small wise grip plier, it is a piece of cake; I happened to have one that measures about 4 inches in length and it has a narrow tip . Make sure you follow her instructions and do it from left to right. Another minor problem was that the sparkplug socket was holding the sparkplug too tight and when you try to remove the 2 sockets extensions, they were coming off and the sparkplug socket stayed behind. The solution is to shake the socket extension side to side before trying to pull it out! Thanks for the video.

I have an 03 Element. Key will not go into lock all the way, this happened gradually. I can't lock the doors and get back into the vehicle unless I manually lock from inside. To get back in, I must unlock with key at tailgate and climb through the tailgate to enter. With the key in the ignition the lock/unlock button by the handle does not lock the doors. I can push the lock to lock both doors and unlock with lock/unlock button. Should the lock/unlock button work to lock the doors? I'm trying to figure out if the actuator is the problem? I installed the computer and followed your instructions. I've tried three times so far to program. I don't hear the locks cycling after forth time like in the video. Should the panic button work? If so, its not working. Also, everything in the package looks the same as in your video except the color of the remotes is black, not gray like in your video. I'm concerned that I did not receive the correct part. Thanks to all for help and suggestions!
@GirlieGarage17 күн бұрын
If the key won’t go into the lock all the way you could have an issue with the lock cylinder instead of the actuator, but if the doors won’t lock/unlock with the remotes that’s usually an actuator issue (or in less often cases a different electrical issue). Try spraying some wd-40 into the lock cylinder and get it all lubed up to see if that helps. When you take the door card off you’ll also look for broken plastic pieces for indications as to what is not working correctly
