Everything you said is so true, and I totally agree with only using part of that plane analogy. I have finally been consistent with working out and here an there ive taken a week off (or two). and notice I didnt say "stopped working out" or "failed again" Its so much easier to recognize that consistent workouts are going to be a life long struggle and I need to be okay with the "breaks" 😅 even if they are a month long, i can always get back to it without completely starting over!

Great to see you back! All the topics you choose are so real lol. The worst part of falling off is the strong emotional pain, how have you dealt with that so far? I'm constantly worried about falling off even when I'm going quite consistently. Just so scared of having all that stress and rush again (can't say I agree fully with your constant need for stress there LOLL, I've had way enough of that). Finally got my official ADHD diagnosis so I'm going to professional ADHD coaching now, and even then the advice they've given is kind of falling flat in that area :P

Hey! So I think the small round check boxes you’re referring to are items on the Task calendar… every account has it, but if you’re on Mobile you have to go into the side menu to make sure the Tasks calendar is checked so it’s visible:) As for the pink blocks, those are just really short events I created and they’re on the specific calendar that I turned pink, I think it was the “critical” one! I’ve updated my calendar a bit since this video, that video is coming soon actually:) I don’t make too many quick events like that anymore tbh, but you’ll see:) Hope that helps!!<3

Your calendar system has overlaps with the Eisenhower Matrix, which could help some people understand it: Appointments have an exact time and length (urgent), and significant consequences if missed (important) so they're Eisenhower 1. Bottlenecks have consequences (important) but no exact schedule (not urgent) so Eisenhower 2. Critical tasks have fixed times (urgent) but missing any 1 of them once isn't a big deal (not important) so Eisenhower 3. Daily routine are non-negotiable static habits, they don't have a spot on this system since it's for "tasks" Then everything else is Eisenhower 4- stuff on the chopping block!

Hey! I think if you're using colors, it's just easier to create tags for what each color represents instead of a calendar for each one. Plus if something is not tied to a specific time you can just set it up to "all day" and you can move it to the specific time on the day.
@daniellecolada

You absolutely nailed it. Everything you said had me emphatically nodding in agreement haha. The times in my life where I was overthinking and planning the most were often the times where I was the least productive and had nothing to show for myself. Also, we ADHDers tend to intensely plan not just due to craving the false sense of being productive, but also due to fear of failure driven by RSD and perfectionistic all or nothing/black and white thinking tendencies, like the example you gave of not ticking a cross when following the diet plan made you feel like a failure. For me personally, it took me until well into my 20s before I realised that the phrase “giving 100%” didn’t literally mean give 100%. A lot of other ADHDers I know also took this phrase too literally. No wonder we burned ourselves out so many times haha. Love these videos, keep them up!

@@daniellecolada haha please feel free to rant! But it actually makes sense tho as to why there is a very high link between undiagnosed ADHD (also autism) and things like body dysmorphia and eating disorders in people afab. It’s not just those afab though, with many guys I know who are constantly in the gym thinking that they’ll never attract girls or get respect from others without a Greek god physique having been recently diagnosed with adhd. I’ve noticed that Social media tends to disproportionately affect people with ADHD as it amplifies that already present negative inner critical voice and tendency to spiral, self compare and idealise that ADHDers often have 10000 fold.

My problem is I set a time aside, let’s say I put read my book on my calendar from 7-7:30am, but I don’t actually read until 8:30am, and then the day spirals from there. Does that make sense? And how do you know when to stop and start something?
@daniellecolada
@daniellecolada 14 күн бұрын
Hi Abby! So first off, I totally know what you mean! And admittedly there have been times when using this system it feels like you’re playing catch-up and it gets frustrating, but I think the best advice I can give you without seeing your calendar for myself is to A) give yourself some breathing room on either side of your blocks, and maybe even intentionally make your blocks a little longer than you really need just so you don’t feel like you have to refit the puzzle pieces of time constantly if that’s not a fun little game for you haha. B) now having used this system for more than a year, I’ve really granted myself permission to experiment it and see what works best. I’m planning an update video very soon, so hopefully you’ll see what tweaks I’ve made but I have far fewer “baby blocks”… Nothing on my calendar now is blocked for under 30 mins but most things are an hour that way I have leeway within the hour if that makes sense and it’s just much easier to stick to my schedule this way… It sounds like reading your book is part of your morning routine rn and you’re not hell bent on reading it at 730 sharp, so maybe this time just gets lumped into a more general “morning routine” block of time. And the great thing about this is that if Blocks are an hour or longer on your calendar, it will show whatever you enter into “Location” on the block itself and so when blocks are “fuzzier” for me now, I just enter the specifics into that Location field, and it shows up as a detail on the Calendar! Hopefully this makes sense but if not, keep an eye out for that video!! and C) as far as when to start and stop something… I could RANTTT about this, but I’ve really been working with my clients on establishing Temporal Landmarks… I have already few alarms (not calendar notifs) that go off through out the day that remind me it’s time to transition into wearing a different “hat” and doing tasks that are related to that side of myself… In the morning I’m CEO Danielle lol, planning my day and directing different versions of myself, and then Mid-Morning I’m typically Assistant Danielle, doing the bitchwork CEO Danielle has said we need to get done lol, and then about midday I pull myself away from everything and have about 30 mins of “Housewife Danielle” where I empty the dishwasher and load current dishes so I don’t have to save it all for Danielle Danielle … who is supposed to be just chillin and doing what she want’s for the most part lol… I hope that helps! <33
