Totally agree with Becky. The guy who is demonstrating is a, shall we say... Totally makes me sad I bought this and I'm throwing it out and ordering a Kun.
@emmanewton244313 күн бұрын
Hi Becky, a Kun will fit exactly the same way, as will many other brands. A basic rule to remember is that generally the lowest (and sometimes widest) end is the bit that sits on your shoulder. The curve of the rest will then curve in line with the curve of the shoulder.

Hi there what is the total length please? Of the foam part say. Want to see if it will fit in my small case for travel. Thank you

So the end of the tailpiece doesn't sit firmly on the violin's body? It's hanging in the air? Thnx brother ❤

here in germany i had bad experience with 2 different violin makers, the one had made a brigde so quickly, that the distance between fingerboard and the string is 1 km, and the second one didn't want to repair my violin, he said to me, no time for your violin, the bridge is bullshit, the violin is not made correctly, i said to him, i must not have a 1 Million expensive instrument to play on concert, with this violin i played in live concert, the audience were so happy with my cheap violin. (500 Euro). I think, perhaps i am wrong, the most Violin makers are arrogant.. sorry sir, i don't mean you. you make great jobb with your fingers.

Can this shoulder rest be angled/tilted sideways? Having tried every adjustment I can with my current rest, I really feel that it would suit my shoulder better if a rest could be angled. This would create more of a bracing effect against the end of my shoulder and hopefully prevent the slippage I feel when pressing the strings. I find the rigid level flatness of the standard shoulder rests to be a far less than optimum feature. I am struggling to source one with this kind of adjustment option.

Thanks. Have a new tool, and you giving the string clearance measurements helped understand what these markings were for. Timeless advice. Also got a device like yours to raise the strings, and then take out the bridge. Never saw that tool before last month. Been playing/working on violins for over 60 years years. Have assembled parts to make a violin (front/back/sides/etc), Never saw these tools. Thanks again.

What do you think of the new violin carbon fiber bridges? They are supposed to give more sustain
@thestringzone30424 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we have not yet worked with any carbon fiber bridges, so would not be in a position to pass opinion.

I got this at a clearence price of 50$ and I cannot tell how happy I am with them. I tried Pro-Arté and Tzigane but they do not compare to the original gut. The only lack is I cannot get a fff sound with them, for this probably one has to go with Eudoxa-stiff.

Whilst obviously skilled with your hands, your mouth could use a bit of education; there is no such word as "heighDth" (I emphasized the D, which shouldn't be there, on purpose). The word you need help with is "height." No D or final th are required.

I recently started playing my viola after some 10 years of absence. It has a brand new bow, strings, sound post and bridge. I've rejoined my local orchestra, which is pure joy, except for one problem; When I try to play either the lowest (C) string or the next lowest (G) on its own, my bow causes the adjacent string to sound. I believe that the bridge needs a little more curvature where it supports the G and C strings. Is this a common issue? Can I do this kind of work myself? I have been a fully accredited and highly skilled piano tuner-technician for the past 50 years.

Question : In making the bridge what is your goal for the sound of the violin? When you get one in place do you then realize you took off to much or you should keep reshaping it? What is the optimal shape of a bridge? If it sound to Toney what needs to be done? Thanks
I had no idea. This is a work of art! The bridge sets a lot of instruments apart. After I had mine fitted , it felt like the violin was made for me.

Is there any advantage in removing the fine tuner screws on the G, D and A strings, for an integrated tail piece?
@wade44527 ай бұрын
It's very wonderful and right on time. The bridge on this violin is too flat and makes single string play difficult. Thank you.

you mentioned that the whole thing is done by knife. why is this? I see there is a tool with a wheel for clamping the bridge and sanding the feet down in situ. is this a reasonable way to do it as well?

Terrible product. My son has had three, and all fall off despite hours adjusting, reading the Manuel and watching the instruction videos, taking them to master luthiers in Chicago, and to master veteran violin teachers. My son has been embarrassed and demoralized as this rest has fallen off during concerts for which he was the concert master, during a concerto competition, and during lessons and practice.

Thank you for sharing. I can’t afford a luthier but my extremely cheap used instrument has an awful bridge. I have woodworking tools and can’t really make it worse so I’m having a go at improving it. I’ve watched loads of luthiers and have a good idea what I should do. Thanks again.

Do the geared pegs have any effect on the sound of the instrument? Logically, I seems that they would not, but traditional fine tuners do change the sound, in my experience, so I thought I'd get an opinion.
