It's somewhat misleading to make the claim that there are over 2,000 scriptures on the subject of money and possessions. Yes, Jesus would mention money, but it was in the context of pointing people towards the Kingdom of God, which has nothing to do with managing money. Matthew 6:21 isn't about money management either. "Treasures in Heaven" is about focusing on the spiritual, not the material. It's about your focus - your intention. The point is that the spiritual is superior to the material. Focus on that which is eternal, not temporal. Neither God nor Jesus ever asked anyone for their money nor did biblical, systematic (required) tithing have anything to do with paying money to a religious organization. There's no such thing as a biblical tithe received from earned wages. Compulsory, biblical tithes were received from either the tithe of the land or the tithe of the herd (Leviticus 27:30-32). All consumable items. All within Israel. All under Mosaic Law. All under the Old Covenant. Saying that "not tithing is robbing God" isn't biblically accurate. Nowhere in scripture is anyone commanded to continually pay money to a religious organization, or anywhere else. The narrative in the book of Malachi is confined to the nation of Israel (Malachi 1:1) and further narrowed towards the Levitical Priests in Malachi 1:6, 2:1 and 3:3. The tithe indictment in Malachi 3:10 can't be universally applied either historically or currently and it had nothing to do with money.

Too often, we believe we are seeking Him & really just pursuing our own interests.
