My first gig after replacing the lead singer of Snake Eyes was backing the reformed Kradle and Judas Priest tribute band "Painkiller". A rad bunch of guys who were so supportive during my first metal show ever! It was really cool meeting with guys like Jason Rodgers (one of the best metal singers around), Chris (Weasel) who was playing drums but is an awesome guitarist, Kevin Lovering (a kick ass metal drummer in several great projects) and many others I came to know and bump into while playing with Snake Eyes (we ended up sharing a rehearsal space with Kradle at Diamond Sharp in New West), a short jaunt singing for Last Angry Man (drummer Spencer was amazing and Rob could wail on guitar) and finally fronting Craving Glory where I met so many amazing up and comers who backed us up while we headlined all over the place and while rehearsing at Charts in Burnaby. But you never forget your first and everyone at that show was a true rock star without the ego or attitude. The friendliest and most helpful bunch I've ever met or played with to this day! Then coming full circle and meeting Steve Lindsay when we started rehearsing at his spot (Lindsay Music). Nothing is like the community created by some of the coolest local bands and their awesome members. I hope each new generation gets to experience the same culture as they take over and begin the journeys that us vets will continue on until end!
