I recently got a trbx304 ($379) and it came set up just about perfect. So far very happy with sound and quality as I’m just starting out.

Two things; First get a screwdriver and tighten the chassis screws. I bought an RB108 and a RB112 about two or three years ago. Both amps had screws that were almost loose. Second, you can get a little boost if you turn the grit all the way down and turn the level all the way up. Don't be afraid to 'daisy chain' with other similar amps. I tried that with the RB112 fed by a Frontman 60 bass amp with a "Piledriver" boost. Insane volume.

No tone demo?

no, it just sound like another a P bass, looks cool and plays well. maybe check a motown album if you wanna hear one.

@@joetspaulding Or pretty much any other channel that does bass demos/reviews. Discerning players like to hear how it sounds, because just because it has a split coil in the general vicinity of a P doesn't mean it's gonna sound good. For some of us, tone matters.

I just bought this exact model of bass, about three weeks ago. I am new to bass and could not wait to get into my first bass. The knob in the middle I was thinking was a tone knob for the front pickup. I have to keep it dialed back about halfway otherwise I get a hum. What guage of string would you recommend for someone with small hands? I am having a hard time fretting notes on the E string. Thank you for this review.

does the Wilkinson tuner fit directly? no drilling needed?
Over halfway through a review video and not a note played. I gave up. Life's too short ! 🙄

I guess you bought online and were sent a "Friday afternoon" lemon they couldn't sell in store. Been a bass player for 56 years and have a collection of basses going back to the mid 60's, but picked up a Squier Affinity p-bass recently because I was impressed by handling and hearing it in a guitar shop. Sure, they've saved money in various ways, but it's one of the most playable instruments that I own, has very quickly become a favorite, and I can make it even better if I spend some money on it. Bottom line is you're wrong about that model.

Thanks for the video. I just purchased an upgrade from my first CBG, and I've been on several CBG channels here, so everything CBG is coming my way! In my searching over the past two weeks, I've seen the CBG kit in this video in several other videos. Most had the same complaints, the biggest being the cheapness of the box itself, with the top delaminating and peeling off. I feel if it's capable of producing a decent sound, spraying the box like he did here is a good way to go. Not many quality CBGs at this price point from what I've seen.

Cool review, joe 😎🎸 I own Yamaha basses and I currently own on bb bass and one trbx. I was thinking purchasing another trbx. I do feel they’re more underrated than the bb bass. But of course Yamaha basses are indeed underrated. Especially since not a lot talk about these basses. Despite this, they’re great sounding bass guitars and I do recommend them

I have a trbx504 and i love it got it for i think 400 or 450. Imo best bass you can buy anywhere near that price. Especially if you want a bright metallic tone for slapping or it sounds great with a pick for rock. I definitely prefer the matte finish over gloss.

I currently have a 304 and a 604 and after much comparing, I think the 604 wins. I do like the 304s more aggressive tone but the 604 is considerably lighter whilst still having no neck dive, the flame maple top looks stunning, the tone can be made more aggressive with a little EQing and lastly the active/passive switch & the mid knob instead of the 5 way switch give the win to the 604 for me. But as you say you can't go wrong with either but i wish that 5 way switch was either a mid knob or even a coil split option like the Ibanez 300e line
