Great stuff, Hakutoshi. Fantastic job of blending Jiu-Jitsu and Taijutsu. I know that I don’t need to say this to you as you have been in this game a long time as well but don’t be discouraged by those that don’t even begin to have even the simplest grasp of what you’re demonstrating.

Lots of these offer the opportunity to control the opponent's posture a bit with the ol' chin dig in the traps as well. Not as a total solution, but just a way to mess up their posture and create space to do the arm bundle trapping if needed.

Has someone who’s a BJJ black belt, I would like to see a video about the value you see in still training Toshindo. Especially since a lot of people take the mindset of BJJ and Muay Thai are all you need to learn.
@MichaelTiemann
@MichaelTiemann 5 күн бұрын
I'll offer two (of many) values. First, we train defenses against weapons, which is valuable when your attacker has a knife, a baton, etc. Second, we train mindsets; BJJ is awesome, but sometimes we want to win by being purely evasive and untouchable. That scores no points in a match, but could be valuable in real-world scenarios.

Note that the armlock is not applied until after the strike to the temple. Many do not understand that locks like this are only applied when oppurtunity opens up due to the opponent being occupied with other things (like recovering from being punched in the face/neck/temple). If opurtunity do not present it self it will not be applied.

Cool. It’d never work in a real life scenario but it’s cool. Edit: a few reasons why it wouldn’t work so you know why I think this before you type your comments. All the steps in the video were planned for the demonstration. In real life you don’t know that they will grab your collar, and then swing at you that exact way. Anyone who thinks they can remember these moves and use them in a real life scenario effectively is going to get hit by reality HARD. It’s been proven for a long time now that this kind of martial art is not effective against anyone with a background in the fighting fundamentals like boxing and wrestling. There’s a reason why you don’t see any fancy wing chun in the UFC. It’s not against the rules, it just doesn’t apply to anyone besides MAYBE a drunk idiot if you’re very lucky. My best advice is don’t get into fights, and if someone tries to fight you just run. But the only thing that makes you anything but a victim in a hand to hand combat scenario is a basic knowledge of one or more aspects of MMA.

@Mr.Wednesday-bu2oh
@Mr.Wednesday-bu2oh 22 күн бұрын
@@chunkymunky_mofo8006 I know he broke it down but it still wouldn’t work in real life. This only worked because it was an exercise where they knew exactly what the attacker would do. In real life you have no idea what the other guy is gonna do or how he’ll react. Everyone knows that to defend yourself in the real world you practice boxing, bjj, and maybe either wrestling or Muay Thai. These martial arts demonstrations are cool but it’s not a fight, it’s a dance.

Greetings from Kentucky. It's actually a very effective technique. The techniques works because your opponent doesn't have time to react. He thinks you are defensive and doesn't expect to have his bicep stunned; humorous broken. Any techniques can be countered if you have time.
@Mr.Wednesday-bu2oh
@Mr.Wednesday-bu2oh 21 күн бұрын
@@OdellWhite-k7n read my second comment replying to that other guy. You cannot predict what type of punch he’ll throw or if he’ll grab your collar. You don’t know that he’ll “think you’re being defensive”, whatever that means. The only way those kind of moves would even have a chance of being effective is on a MUCH smaller opponent.
@OdellWhite-k7n
@OdellWhite-k7n 20 күн бұрын
Sure you can. He started the action by grabbing you first. The defender moves off the X and trap's his hand. His balance point is moving forward, which gives him two options.. That's why the counter strikes work.

Historically, Ninjutsu is not a fighting art. Although the Japanese Martial arts has Ninjutsu...Ninjutsu itself is not fighting system! It is an espionage skill set with in the Japanese Martial Arts... There are only two schools of the 9 in the Bujinkan or Genbkuan organizations of Martial Arts that contain Ninjutsu teaching. Togakure ryu , is one of them. The other 7 schools are various samurai and police developed fighting arts of Japan, as taught by Takamatsu Sensei to Hatsumi sensei. The Schools have now been split back to the individual Soke of each. Choose your teachers wisely...I feel fortunate to have had the consolidated teaching of the Bujinkan under Hatsumi sensei and his subordinates before his retirement. I'm old school ninja but I have learned to respect the actual history of the arts I hold license to. Bujinkan Budo Ninpo Taijutsu is a consolidation 9 rya. Keep Training....

What most people don’t realise is that there is huge difference between martial arts, combat sports and self defence. Ninjutsu is a martial art as in art. I looks fancy but has no value in violent situations what so ever. For that you need realistic sparring and pressure testing pressure testing and pressure testing. Of witch ninjutsu has none of that.

Ninjutsu isn't a martial art. It's espionage, scouting, stealth, sabotage, commando skills, etc. -- it has zero to do with dudes in black gis in dojos throwing each other around. There was never a martial art called "ninjutsu" until frauds like Hatsumi invented it in the 20th century. Why do people still buy into this?
@donmorfeo

Good video. Problem is there are so few ninjutsu schools in one's area and then you find those that don't teach practical self defense which is why people go for BJJ or Krav Maga rather than ninjutsu.
