Travis Mitchell, Ngosi, Michael Mfume, Joe Claire, a USN Veteran, named Willie, with many others, participated in this protest. . . there was a walk from Bmore to Annapolis, and Md. Gov. Wm. Donald Shaffer, met with Student Leader, Travis Mitchell. I know, bc I was there. A.T.

What is not mentioned most of the initiatives were all being addressed by Dr Earl S Richardson before the protest. Many of us saw the immediate results with the blue light stations, enhancers lighting, and dorm renovations. Later the major legal fight resulted in billions for capital funding withheld for decades. Morgan successfully fought to maintain its leadership integrity by being independent of the UMD system. I was participated in the demonstration in his office. During that time hDr. Richardson greeted the students and treated us with the upmost respect and concern. His efforts made him many enemies in Annapolis to include many Annapolis politicians and some members of the Black caucus. He was a strong and consistent advocate for Morgan Stage University. During the mid 80s there were political discussions to close Morgan State University and rebrand as another university of Maryland campus. There is creditable information without Dr Richardson that may have happened. I resided in Baldwin before the renovation, stayed in Strathdale, and then the newly opened Blount towers. Now gone is the Refectory and other dilapidated buildings. As of ‘22 home conning the facilities are current along with a host of schools and degree programs. A site to be proud. Hopefully, more will be written about Dr Richardson’s accomplishments because his legacy is truly great.

I was at Morgan 1989-1990, and participated in these protests. I am pleasantly surprised to find the news footage and other videos from that time posted here. Thank you. Will be sharing.

Lovely video! I didn't start attending Morgan until fall of 1992. '92-95 to be exact. Morgan was very eclectic and I must say it was a unique and fun experience although I did not graduate from there, it remains one of my fondest memories. I remember some of the faces in this video during '92-93 school year as well

Well...it's 25 years later since these protests and I must say they must have paid off! Someone definitely gave Morgan the fund$ they needed, although it took time because I was a student there off and on from '92-95 and I must say Morgan looks a WHOLE lot better now then it did then!

Oh my goodness. I remember participating in this video like it was yesterday. I certainly did not expect to see it on KZbin but so glad I did. It was a wonderful experience and I have been a die hard Mint fan every since. I have seen them in concert more times than I can count and other endless stories. Thank you Morgan for the beginning of a 20+ year love affair. I still have the original placard and CD from that shoot.

lets see Morgan still has a long way to go either way what took this school 25 years to get they still lack in many areas! so while other colleges in maryland have upgraded campus wise morgan is still legging behind other schools academic wise! Morgan will never be able to catch up with other universities or HBCU's

I arrived on campus at the height of the protest in 90-91. Its good to know that those efforts paid off.....it just sucked because we had to stay in Stathdale Manor in Monrovia...at the bottom.

Wow and many people take our University for granted. We need to appreciate where we came from and how those before us made Morgan a better place. It really gets on my nervous we was as students are so lazy and turn in ridiculous work. I proud of how much Morgan has changed since then. Of course there are still issues but not as much in this video.
