WHY do so many people have this? It came from somewhere. I’ve suffered for 3+ years. GIs in NJ have NO IDEA what SIBO is, how to diagnose it or how to treat it. Mine began after months of acid reflux. No diarrhea. No constipation. I got the COVID vax and it just really skyrocketed from there.

Your analogy’s to explain this into layman’s terms are fantastic! Do you ever make visits to NYC? If not, do you have colleagues that are on the same page as you? From my experience most GI doctors don’t come close to this level of understanding

I had good hopes for this test, after 40 years of dealing with an obvious case of SIBO with no help from the medical industry. Within 15 minutes of drinking the glucose, I had visible bloating, gas, and a stomachache. I thought surely these symptoms would be reflected in the test results. Nope. My practitioner left a voice mail yesterday, saying my results were negative. I'm wondering, if I don't have SIBO, who does? I'm a textbook case. Sure wish the medical industry would actually help. I guess I'll just keep going with my diet and supplements.

Look towards Low Dose Naltrexone. It lowers antibodies from autoimmunity. Got my gut going again after a year of post-infectous mayhem starting in the gut.

I believe there was a study done that tried this, but the antibodies will come back after being filtered out of the blood. Just like with Multiple Sclerosis.

If I understand correctly, Cdt B leads to anti-cdt B and maybe Anti-vinculin. But it’s the anti-vinculin that leads to reduced MMC which in turns leads to a potential bacterial overgrowth. But in the case you have anti-CdtB elevated and Anti-vinculin not elevated, what is the logical explanation for having IBS ? Because if there is no anti-vinculin, there is no reason to have reduced MMC, right? Is it possible that the patient had anti-vinculin in the past and it’s now low while anti-cdtb is still high?

BTW a "full dose" does not mean the whole bottle. According to my instructions it's 40ml of lactulose with or followed by one cup of water. "Discard any excess solution."

I got severe food poisoning in Mexico 15 years ago. My life has never been the same. Once I got home I started having Ibs symptoms,no one ever connected the food poisoning as the start of it all. I think I now have my answer as to why I have IBS, but what is being done about is my question .?

Diagnosed with epi and PERTs not making much difference. Gassy and greasy. Doctor won't test for sibo and fighting to get it done. Can sibo exacerbate epi or be the main issue?

I have IBS and it sucks. I just got diagnosed w SIBo. I been suffering for 10 months after I had Covid-19 in November. I am working w Hollistic docs for now. GI docs don’t do nothing for le. They always just give meds and it never works

I had an anxiety attack during Covid that I think triggered ibs. I’m still recovering a month later. I did not have any stomach issues during my Covid experience before that anxiety attack.

I've told the doctors about my symptons and they ignore me. They only say: 'it's anxiety', but I have always been like that. This happens to me with certain foods, and reading about SIBO I could analyze my own diet and found out how onion caused me severe diarrhea... I think, I have that bacterial overgrowth in my gut

Highly likely! And so annoying that your doctor wrote it off as anxiety. Grrr. makes me mad! It's easy enough to test for SIBO, I do it all the time with clients.

I’m in Australia and not many docs know of sibo over here however I found a naturopath about two years ago that arranged a sibo breath test for me,came back negative but still my so called IBS persists. Crazy bloating,distended stomach and diarrhoea most days. I can’t find anyone over here(Adelaide that knows about hydrogen sulfide sibo?! Don’t suppose in your doctors circle that you know of anyone in Australia at all. I’m desperate

I just came back from getting a colonoscopy and endoscopy today and I still feel like I'll never get put if severe rectal bleeding and vomiting blood off and on. My current new gasterenologist did I have no signs of ibd or a peptic ulcer but even he can't seem to explain what's causing me to have bloody stools. Ibs= it's a b.s. diagnosis. So I told him early this morning that I won't be coming back anymore. I could have saved myself alot of stress and money skipping these stupid and useless procedures.

I've had symptoms for decades, and have been to several gastrointerologists. They were all useless. I've just about concluded that lots of MDs are just quacks, although probably well-meaning; their training and the medical boards and the FDA don't let them deviate from standard protocols. I've recently started seeing a Functional Medicine practitioner. This doctor is an MD but not like the quacks I went to before. Functional Medicine practitioners don't just try to suppress symptoms like conventional MDs do, they look for root cause and treat that, not always with drugs & surgeries like the usual quack MDs. I've only been to this doctor twice, so I'm not well yet, but I'm hoping she can find and treat the root cause. I'm now also looking into the SIBO diet even though my SIBO test came back negative, because my symptoms seem suspiciously like SIBO. Unfortunately Functional Medicine practitioners are not covered by insurance in the USA so it's expensive.

@janae linder I have had a full hysterectomy due to non stop bleeding but still bleed occasionally. I have had all the tests, some so unbelievably painful, but they have no answers. This was followed by rectal bleeding but have tested clear of cancer. I have constant diarrhoea. Then I had a very large oral bleed, so much blood. To cut a long story short I have been tested and diagnosed with what is known as HHT. Its an hereditary bleeding disorder and may be worth you looking into it. It’s short for Hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia and takes many forms, often symptoms varying from minor to major in persons who are in the same family. It is as complicated as it’s name which is why it is commonly known by its abbreviated form.

@@johnterry8958 the TCM im seeing said the same that most MD'S are not trained to treat the root cause but just the symptoms he also said when he was in college that they only spent 2-3 weeks on the organs then moved on to some thing else
