Camped at the base of Mt.Fugi for all of Nov in 1971. It was an awesome sight to say the least to come out of your tent in the AM and seeing the mountain in all it's Sun shiny glory . Yup. A site you can and do not want to forget. Did not see tourists. Probably had to do with camping on a Japanese Army base while participating in winter training exercises . 😝

I think your paying attention too much of mout Fuji there’s other things don’t miss small things around Mount Fuji I went on tours about 8 of them around Mount Fuji but my goal wasn’t Mount Fuji my goal to look at things that people miss because they looking at Mount Fuji. I was looking at theme park or the huge Tori gates the different buildings small mom pops shops like here 2:57 with mountains in background 80% wasn’t at Mount Fuji so I never got tired of it it was just side quest

I've been to Kawaguchiko by car a couple of times at least, and have stayed in spas in that area. I've talked with my son about riding out here from Tokyo, but it's not an appealing ride -- just exurb rubbish all the way until you arrive. Who knows? Maybe we'll do it this spring.

Love this video! Looks like some wonderful riding. My goal is to bring my bike to Japan for several weeks of touring. Packing it for the plane, and having a Rinko for the train are looking like the biggest things I’ll need to learn. I’m thinking that I’ll use a cardboard box that I can recycle, so I don’t need to worry about storing a case. Then all I’ll need to do is find another bike box in Tokyo before I leave. I’m going to try to find a Rinko before I go, so I can practice packing and unpacking. Thanks for sharing the video! 😊

Well, thank you. Loverly, to steal a word from 'My Fair Lady', as always. Do you find Japanese drivers always courteous to cyclists? And how does that compare to Singapore? Just a few days now and Winter will be over where I live or at least close enough to 'over' to get the Brompton out of the closet and onto the roads again... Your videography inspires me.
@ditodoonstudio6 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words, always! sadly i dont consider myself qualified to comment on the drivers as i am not on the road that much. But i did feel accommodated (slow cyclists here) many times when i have to use the shoulder. In Singapore, i almost never cycle on the road at all.

Familiar roads. I ride the Arakawa a couple-few times per month. My ride usually starts in Roppongi, where I live, I ride out to Ikebukuro, and then to Ukima Park, which is next to the river. Then I head out past Kawagoe, eat a big snack, and then ride to Kasai Rinkai park for a late lunch at Burger King. From the park, I ride through Koto and Chuo, then back to Minato and home. It’s a great ride, usually between 120 and 140km, depending on my route. I wouldn’t try to do it on a Brompton.

Thank you as always! Hope the rest of the year is as good for you as this first segment. A question, if I may: What is the significance of the first and last train cars, mentioned at about 3:30? Are they set up for bicycles in some way? Loved your comment about getting lost while reading the map and then the comment about 'On the second episode of Getting Lost...' Finally, your riding along the water made me think of a trail here in Canada, Toronto to be specific, that runs along Lake Ontario. Look for Martin Goodman Trail on KZbin and you will see where I'll be riding this Summer. Thanks again; it was lovely.
@ditodoonstudio20 күн бұрын
On most local, rapid and express trains (or bullet trains) in Japan (with seats facing front and rows with isle in between), it is advisable to be on the last car as they may have extra space to put your luggage behind the seats of the last row. I'm not sure about having dedicated cars where you can have your bike standing as is and/or locked in a rack, i've personally never seen one. But on a subway type like in the video, I just sat with the bike in front of me, although you can also place the bike in a bulkhead to prevent blocking people's way in case it's crowded, just part of etiquette. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for the recommendation I'll check the channel out. Excited for you and your upcoming summer ride!
