Great ideas with the por patch. I’m considering doing the same thing with the bottom of my door. Small rust holes in tricky spots. Good stuff.
@RealWorldGarageКүн бұрын
@@mercurymangarage6186 yes sir I have some of those same spots, that cutting out and welding would be for a professional body man, I am not. But I think I can make something work out of the por-15 and por-patch. How long it last, IDK?? For what I’m doing with this car, if I had to do it again every couple years, no big deal.

@RealWorldGarageКүн бұрын
I’ve only ever known it as POR-15. I’ve only seen it fail in a couple applications, the metal was extremely oily, even cleaned repeatedly with lacquer thinner and degreaser we couldn’t get all the oil out.
@crushingvanessa3277Күн бұрын
@@RealWorldGarage I have used rust mort before and when I mention it to anyone, Por-15 comes up, that's why I was wondering. I just know rust mort(one word?) will turn rust black, seal it and then you can paint it. I don't know how good it is for the long term, I guess comparable to Por-15, maybe the competitor. I haven't done restoration work in years so I'm out of date.

If the metal isn’t to gone, it will definitely work to seal it up and add some strength back to it. The beauty of using the por-15 like the resin is it doesn’t give up like traditional resin used with fiber glass. It’s also solvent and water proof. You have to do a few coats of it to close up all the pores of the fiberglass.

I have a question to ask I know the Fuel system is 3-5psi. But will a 4-7psi pump work?
@RealWorldGarage12 күн бұрын
As hard as parts have been to find, I would certainly give it a try if you have access to one. We installed a new click clack pump and he did end up switching back to the old one because the new one failed and wouldn’t move fuel.
@alpharaptor751012 күн бұрын
@ my old one died Did pump fuel but now intermittent. It sat for years and years. Was also stuck
@RealWorldGarage12 күн бұрын
Did you have the tank cleaned professionally?? It took my son a long time to get all of the rust out of the entire system. The lines had rust that kept breaking loose and he had to blow the lines and filters out numerous times. He also attached a magnet to the tank to catch any fine particles that would break free. These tanks are very hard to clean, even for a professional shop, and the lines are incorporated in the body making them very difficult to replace. There are 2 fuel filters on these, one by the pump and one under the hood. They will plug up and make your life difficult. It will take compressed air, and persistence. Buy some extra filter to swap out. You can hear the pump when it’s pumping the fuel change and get louder when the line gets plugged and stops flowing fuel. Be careful when dealing with the gasoline, stay safe and keep a fire extinguisher handy.
@alpharaptor751012 күн бұрын
