Where do these fakes come from?

Did anyone else notice that he set the machine for a pre 1900 coin for measuring the silver content and othe data etc... but the coin itself is dated 1903?? I mean, I get what's going on for testing purposes , but technically that changes this you'd have to assume .... pre 1900 versus post 1900 date (1903)

why fake a $50 dollar coin?

First, no one selling a coin, particularly a rare coin, is going to let you do some of those tests. That said, is it even safe to buy a coin in a pcgs case?..I suppose those are faked to. I used collect, but with all the fakes, I don't see much point as much as I enjoyed the hobby.

You're very repetitive. You stated five times about the weight being over.

If you start with a Pocket Ponger, and the coin tester all on your phone, youre done in under a minute. It's just that you're making it much more difficult than necessary. If one starts with the pinger, you usually need go no further.

Spend 20 building a case or 3 secs to put it on the sigma tester.

Whybwould a store not have a sigma machine tester. My coin shop doesn't that's when I knew it was time to get one.

Hi Im mark from England and buy bullion coins from very good companys but was tempted by ebay. I bought 8 scottsdale bars an iconic bar and they were all fakke from same sellers there was two of them, I learned fast the ice test and the neodeymium magnet test as siver is diamagnetic it slides off your coin or bar it looks strange but it proves you got silver. Thanks for yor post from the USA its great that people like you cars thank you. I did get my money back as I threatened to blow his feed back to bits with 8 negative feed backs at them.. But suspect they were sold to some one else which is a shame.

My friend has a Morgan Silver Dollar that has no mint mark & no year. It also has the stars all around the coin! Is this coin valuable?

First thing that I noticed is on the good coin the letters in Liberty are evenly spaced, the fake coin they are uneven and "erty" in Liberty are shoved together.

Weight is a good indicator. Sound when tapping and design definition must also come into consideration. Magnets aren't a goid way to test them even using the slide method as copper alloys will slide slowly as well.

More difficult to tell apart, if the counterfeit has had been made with real actual 90% silver, esp. for highly valued old 8-Reales Spanish pillar dollar.

The fake Coins makes a person feel like giving up collecting there are too many fakes, and those can destroy a collectors, confidence and collecting

why are you testing a peace dollar on pre 1900 setting. i have found that when i have a peace coin that reads in the 2.2 range on the 1900-1945 setting it puts in the yellow but density is good. if i change it to pre1900 like you have it will show it dead center in the green like what you were showing. unless you are just going by the number 2.2 and dont care about the little chart, which is likley since you do it daily. i just have about five peace coins that measure 2.18-2.25 and ive been trying to find out why.
