You didn't rip him off but it still was morally wrong imo I understand you advertised the minimum price but knowing it was well under your 3hr minimum you could have told your customer it was very little wood for your minimum maybe he had more wood he could've gotten split for the same price but instead you played dumb knowing it was a deal in your favor which is greed imo but hey you do business the way you want bucko

Some places you need a Burn permit or you can be charged. If there is a fire ban on at the time you will be charged.

Im usually the one to say you charge a lot for an hours work... but lets be honest here. 120 bucks for all that work plus you gotta load and unload the splitter, gas etc. Thats a good deal. And 60 bucks wont even buy your family meals at McDonald's now a days.

Bundle your firewood and sell it for $7 each or 3 for $20 or have racks by your driveway with set prices and a cash paybox. Then u don't have to be home whenever people want to buy wood

Personally I started printing business cards and going to houses that look like they needed stump removed and they started spreading the word !

Besides starting an llc and insurance, are there any other requirements you needed before starting? Any certifications? I’m new to this, just trying to get an understanding. I’m looking to start a small business as well. I’m tired of the 9-5 office job.

In Mass when I respond to "illegal burning" I try to work w/the people unless it's illegal so I tell the people...go get some food to grill and this then becomes legal.

Depending on your area you might need to apply for a burn permit. There’s also the potential that your burn is happening during a “red flag warning” where burning ANYTHING is illegal and will come with fines. My area had a very bad dry spell recently and we were forced to put out any open burns.

This is the problem with government interference with our rights. They can make up anything they want if you have an awful neighbor which I feel for you because I’ve had one too they will use as much harassment against you as they can. Unfortunately agencies just go along with it
