I’m from Canada and was coincidentally in Mainz in early December 2023 and literally stumbled into the opening ceremonies when the mayor and other officials were making a speech and turning on the holiday market lights. It was a beautiful and random night!

Yesterday I met a secondary school class who were at the CM in MZ . They reported that they were hardly able to buy anything with their pocket money because everything was so expensive. How sad is that...Christmas is supposed to be something for children, and the CM is probably no longer part of it. Very sad!!!! The main thing is that the stand rents and taxes are collected nicely, right... what a hypocrisy!
