@ yeah they used it more as a gag and a reason as to why her gag happens than actually taking that seriously. They honestly used that same explanation for akane too and other than eating and fighting she doesn’t have much of a personality or even does gymnastics that much

@@mysmallnoman 1) I don’t think you paid much attention as I specifically mention Kaito later in the video, but I appreciate your enthusiasm! 2) Personally, I enjoy plot twists that are hinted at throughout the story but in this case, it came out of nowhere. While the moral questions it raises are interesting, it was a bit clunky. 3) You must be fun at parties. 4)Yes, as that’s what danganronpa does. They have certain character archetypes that they like to fill (athlete girl, strange looking character, protagonist’s sidekick, stoic girl, antagonist etc). They also do this with the story as they always like having 2 victims in chapter 3 and the mastermind is always revealed in chapter 6. They’re similar enough that I find it boring as if you look at the cast of all the games broadly, they are all the same characters in different fonts. 5)I don’t misunderstand her character, I just don’t like it. I think she still could’ve been a Danganronpa enthusiast without being, quite literally, the most boring character in the whole series. As for the twist, I don’t think it’s something that can be completely ruled out as it was very clear that Kodaka and the rest of the dr team didn’t want to make this game, but I also think it is just a general commentary on fandom culture. I haven’t mentioned this in any of my video essays as I just didn’t really know where to say it, so here is probably the best time. Writing is subjective. We’re all going to enjoy different types of characters, settings, stories etc and that’s completely okay. For example, i specialise in horror writing which I love but I struggle to enjoy science fiction stories, even if they are subjectively good to others just because I don’t enjoy those types of stories. When I make these videos, I be as objective as possible but, at the end of the day, media critique is going to be subjective. The points in my video are not fact, they’re just my personal interpretation of the game. It doesn’t make your points any less valid than mine. @@mysmallnoman 1) In media in general, it happens much more frequently with female characters. That's why it's a trope. 2) Syo was hinted at throughout chapter 2, the 'twist' with Mahiru didn't matter as it didn't change the story at all and she was dead, so it didn't go anywhere whilst with Kirumi, they at least had a discussion about it so it was more relevant, even if it only was for that trial. In comparison, the ultimate survivor twist with Amami was hinted at from the start and greatly effected the story, even though he was long dead. 3) Sure you are. 4) Again, that's how Danganronpa works. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just a fact. I personally find it boring/predictable if it's done too many times and as DR is practically a murder mystery series, that makes it significantly less enjoyable for me than a series like Persona for example who has character archetypes in all the games (silent protag, male best friend, love interest etc) but as it's generally just about fighting monsters and not solving multiple murder mysteries so it's not as unenjoyable for me. That being said, the dr characters generally very vibrant (physically and in the story) but I just wish they experimented a lil bit more. 5) Firstly, if you're going to quote what I say, quote it correctly. Secondly, I can dislike something while understanding what they were going for. What you don't understand is that it's okay for people to have differing opinions of characters. While I find her bland personality to be bland, you seemingly enjoy her character and I'm glad you do, but don't talk to me like I'm stupid just because I don't agree with you. the concept of a DR mastermind being obsessed with the series and dedicating her entire existence is interesting, but Tsumugi herself wasn't for me. I'll be honest, I phrased that incorrectly. I meant 'as to me, it was very clear that Kodaka and the rest of the dr team didn’t want to make this game' that's my interpretation, not fact though I accidentally phrased it as such. I don't personally know Kodaka so obviously I don't know how he felt while making this game, but that's just the vibe I got from the game as a whole, mostly because the whole game just felt like it was desperately trying to be even bigger and grander than the first 2, and for me personally, I think it didn't do as well as the first 2. That being said, I do like V3. It has a cool setting, I like most of the characters and the music and executions are really good, but I had more issues with this game than the others so for me personally, it is the worst of the main 3 games but all in all, it's still a decent title. You can respond if you'd like but I won't respond because I can't be bothered to write a whole essay every single time plus I'll just be repeating myself so you can respond if you want to, just know that I won't be. That's not an enough hint of her DID Also again you can't expose Kirumi's backstory since that would also go against the entire point of the 2nd trial motive 3) sure i am 4) i think your issues with the game isn't the writing it's more like : " um i don't personally like this " which is fine, but don't pretend you have an actual writing issues with the game when it's clear you don't since you don't like murder mystery stories, that also explains why you barely bother to explain your points and instead just call something " uninteresting " and leave it at that 5) i went and read every comment i made and I never said you can't like tsumugi as a character, my issue simply is that you don't understand the character and using that to criticize her, which is dumb It's not dumb to dislike a character even if you understand said character, the issue is that you're letting your bias dictate who's bad and good character instead of writing

@@lukebytes5366 While I agree that Kaede wouldn’t have been as good as Saihara was in the trials, I do think she could’ve still held her own in the future chapters. That being said, I don’t think she necessarily had to survive the whole game, but she definitely could’ve lasted longer than chapter 1. She has a good showing in the first chapter but personally I think they could’ve gone even further and made her more complex. Regardless, I still like her as she is and Saihara himself definitely isn’t a bad protagonist!

Totally agree. If you talk in terms of abilities and intelligence, very few characters from the Saga could beat the game in V3. Neither Makoto or Hinata could do what Shuichi does in chapter 2, much less Kaede whose plan in chapter 1 is based on stealing Shuichi's plan. Also, what you mentioned about Shuichi knowing things before the Trial happens a lot, in Chapter 3 the same thing happens and in Chapter 2 the characters decide to trust their lives in Shuichi for his intelligence. Kaede doesn't have that, she also depended on Shuichi.

I think in the original game the plot twists were well balanced but after that I feel like the writers are just trying to one up themselves but yeah the Kaede twist definitely should've been workshopped LOL

@KyokaXiavon I imagine the visuals would be the biggest hurdle, that's potentially a lot of body discoveries and executions, but in the worst case a compromise would be to go early access with it.

That's true. If Tenko was male their whole relationship would have a completely different vibe. Togami and Fukawa's dynamic is certainly something LOL the only difference betwee nthem is that Himiko did grow some sort of attachment towards Tenko at some point

I was surprised people liked Himiko and Tenko so much as a ship I love shipping and Mahiru x Sato is peak but those two were just upsetting Especially with how small and infantilized Himiko is
