Thank you very much for the tutorial. How to import multiple objects to the library?
@paulmooney165512 күн бұрын
I don't think you have to worry about customers preferring the Orbx version over yours. I recently bought Eddsfield by the same developer and I have to say it is the worst optimised scenery I've ever used. I emailed the dev a couple of times with no reply, so I taught myself some basic Developer Mode and used exclusion rectangles to delete stuff till I eventually found the culprit. I'm a big fan of your work. I live in the UK and have lots of airfields, including Burning Blue Designs, but nothing quite compares to Forwood Farm. Please, please do some more UK strips..there are some lovely airfields in picturesque locations just begging to be modeled.
@JustDave8411 күн бұрын
Must be you, I have no issues with eddsfield. And they have a discord, so it shouldn't be too hard to contact them. Or you could always contact orbx. I doubt they ignore emails.
@paulmooney165511 күн бұрын
@@JustDave84 If you're someone who can tolerate a reduction from 50 FPS to 20 FPS, then you may indeed have no issues. I have hundreds of airports and none behaves like this. As to support, Orbx directs you to the dev's site and they are unresponsive.

So, iam modeling a Hangar in Blender, want to texturize in Substance and use this preset. After that, ill need to use a Plug in on blender to compile the mesh with the maps and export to FS2020?
@Rotornut4428 күн бұрын
You will need the official exporter plugin: github.com/AsoboStudio/glTF-Blender-IO-MSFS/releases Before importing into Substance painter, you should add a material to each part. In substance you paint per material, so if you have the same material on multiple parts, those will be painted at the same time. When you are ready to export to the sim, you set those materials to "Standard" under the MSFS section of the material. Link the materials in their appropriate channels, join the parts together (Ctrl+J - Each loose part is a CPU call), and export it as gltf.

Thank you for the video Rotornut44. I would really like to see how you make the hangar models using the tiling textures method. Like how do you add the dirt and the grime on top of these textures?
@Rotornut4429 күн бұрын
Maybe something I can cover in a future video, though I want to get a better understanding of a few things before I think about teaching it. Dirt is currently just done as it's own tiling texture, then it gets plugged into the main texture material's detail texture albedo channel. There is a value under the material settings to affect how much it gets tiled compared to the main texture, so I can scale that detail tiling up or down without affecting the base texture's scale. I can then also use the vertex paint alpha channel to affect the opacity of the dirt layer.
@henfre684528 күн бұрын
@@Rotornut44 You are not using dirt texture on the detail roughness (Occlusion/Roughness/Metal) channel? Looked like the metal beams had some sort of grunge to them and not from an albedo.. Thank you for your answer and I look forward to following your channel in the future. Have a great day :)

Hello from Chile. City: Villarrica. 20 kilometers away from the Villarrica volcano. Private pilot. Aviation and simulators enthusiast. - Internet is awesome...and so is this. - I would pay to have this scenery, your work is amazing. - I listened very carefully to what you said So do it for the airport, but help us be there virtually. I discovered Cleetus 2 years ago, and like; Trent Palmer, Jimmy´s world, Flywithkay, Flight Chops, Stevie Trisemberg and many others, Cleetus is the real deal when it comes to aviation, and everything else, 100% passion. - It would be incredible to have a scenery as close to the development of the airport as possible, (the abandoned metal beams for the hangar,...so cool). - I use Simulators to practice as a pilot. I am not a gamer, so I don´t get the tech part. But I don´t have a beast computer, so i hope it runs. This would be so amazing and fun for the flightSim/Aviation community. Get i touch with Cleetus brother, great things could come out, great guy! - I´m 54, internet is awesome, In this case KZbin. I will check out your channel! I feel like a kid....And now like Mike Paty would say, BACK TO WORK! Adios y saludos desde Chile!!!

Hello! Thanks for checking out my project! I'd love for Cleetus to see this airstrip - maybe once it's a little further along! The abandoned frames are definitely one of my favorites. I know they are probably fairly useless now, but they definitely add some character to the environment of the airstrip! Putting optimization first on this project, I'm hoping that it will run good on any system within spec. We will definitely see once I start the Xbox testing phase! If it survives Xbox testing, it will survive anything! haha Back to work!

Burnout, I head yah. Glad you're back on the wagon doing the lord's work with scenery development. LOL. I'm curious about timestamp 18:00 where you showed the inside of the hangar. How did you get a rough schematic of that building? I'm new to scenery development and I'm using a combination of Google Earth, Maps, and Google Image Searches to find anything I can about the buildings. Love the insight into development. I'm eating it up!
@Rotornut4429 күн бұрын
I'll use Bing or Google Maps for the rough width and depth. Consider if there is a soffit or anything and guesstimate any reduction for that. Height I will use photos for if possible. If I can't get a good head-on or side-on shot to build off of perspective, I'll look for things on the building, such as a door or anything I know there is a standard size for. In the case of this hangar, I have a handful of useful photos that I was able to build things off of perspective wise. I guessed the size of the i-beams and then pulled real standard sizes, modeled and compared them with the photos to see what size was closest. Then it's just a matter of making adjustments until everything fits together.

The 500E flies from the left seat?
@Rotornut442 ай бұрын
Yep, it's one of the few helicopters primarily flown from the left seat. Some models of the 500 have been set up for right seat PIC, and I think you can order them from the factory that way as well, but they are mostly all left seat PIC. There are several theories(?) floating around out there as to "why" it was done that way. Everything from being able to install a bench seat in the front, to "just because." lol Apparently the long-line pilots like the setup though as you lean into the collective when looking down at your load, paired with the left skid low hover tendency, it apparently makes it feel more natural.
@chesterbeals1162 ай бұрын
@@Rotornut44 Interesting. I've never flown sling-load operations, but it sounds like it would make sense! Another theory I might add is that maybe they were thinking about foreign sales where that's more normal. Beautiful work, by the way! 👍

I had never seen this tutorial before. Nice. Remember that in such places usually there is absolutely nothing, No cones, windsock, nothing.A couple of tent, a couple of bushplanes , vegetation and ground texture and that's all that can be found there. I would suggest using some texture to improve seeing the runway, but by now you are so good in doing this. Your last airstrips are stunning. Love them!

This camp series is really dated now. It's before I went down the detailed backcountry airstrip route or even released my first MSFS payware, which I am already remastering to bring up to my standards. I haven't watched this video since I made it, but I think the cones were the only thing I took a bit of liberty on here from a realism standpoint. If I can remember, it was probably to outline where the runway actually was. If I ever touch these camps again, I'd probably remove them as they are pretty useless and get run over most of the time anyways. Thanks for the kind words and support!

So I have a question. This is how I have mine set up. I think I watched your video originally to set mine up. How come I can import a COMP file from an aircraft and lets say I just go straight to exporting it. Many times the original COMP file has a lot of green in it. Even if I touch nothing and export it I will get yellows and not greens. Whats going on with that? Do I have something set wrong?
@Rotornut444 ай бұрын
Are you breaking it apart into AO, Roughness, and Metal channels first and then importing those 3 images in? Yellow would mean that there is little or no AO (Red channel is mostly white), and more or fully rough (More white in the green channel). If it was more green overall, this would mean that there was more AO (Red channel is darker). So, it sounds like the AO channel is just getting painted over with white. Which may be the case if you didn't add an Ambient Occlusion channel under Texture Set Settings and plug in the original AO channel from the COMP.
@TheWatchmanNews4 ай бұрын
@@Rotornut44 I am removing the height and adding AO in the texture sets. Forgive me if my terminology is off. I have not broken the comp file down before import. I just import the comp file and then assign it to the metal roughness and AO channels. Is that where my mistake is? I usually don't use any of the original comp file in export. I just import everything anyway for OCD reasons lol.
@Rotornut444 ай бұрын
I don’t know if Substance would know what to do with the COMP if you just import it and stick it into the texture slots, so I’m going to guess that this is probably an issue. I would recommend saving each individual color channel of the COMP as a png. R=AO, G=Roughness, B=Metallic At the end of the day, if you’re only exporting Albedo, then it really only matters for what you see in Substance anyways.
@TheWatchmanNews4 ай бұрын
@@Rotornut44 I usually export albd and comp I just normally create the comp in substance painter. I will play with it tomorrow with separating the file. One other question. Several aircraft when I export from blender has weird artifacts and in many cases the texture and mesh are not aligned. It appears in substance painter that the model is partially off the square that the textures go on. How can I stop that from happening?
