Dear Michael. Firstly, I very much like your voice! Secondly, as regards technique, there is a lot that interests me in this video. When I went to a singing teacher aged 18/19, I had a untrained lyric baritone. He used the word 'cover' and I had no idea what he was talking about. I was young with no musical education and has just started to sing in the school choir. My teacher then demonstrated was he wanted me to do as his voice ascended. He was about fifty when I went to him and had a fully developed weighty, dark Verdi baritone. I couldn't do anything like he was demonstrating. I just sang open {I had no idea what open or closed meant at the time} and forced, cracked or sounded strangled and it hurt. He put me on excercises that pushed me into this upper range, which simply couldn't deal with, let alone enjoy! I was very confused and depressed and lacked any confidence that I could sing. He was too ambitiuos too soon. I left this teacher not long afterwards. The point, I suppose, about this episode is that I remained ignorant about what was for me advanced theory and practice for my 18 year old self.....

Hi Michael, It sounds like you opened your throat a bit more by relaxing your larynx which slightly lengthens the chords while "yawning" into the notes with just enough flow to sustain proper chord adduction. Then you just relaxed and enjoyed it.

@@michaelhewitt23 thanks. I have a question- I'm new to opera and I need a faster way to learn my repertoire: I'm currently learning Sogno D'Infanzia by Belini and my first vocal competition is coming up this fall and I'm to the point where I am Finally getting comfortable with the diction but I am heavily relying on the sheet music. Since I don't speak Italian I am not associating the individual words to any specific meaning and I only know what certain phrases or words translate to. Are professional opera singers generally fluent in the language of the repertoire they sing or do they just .e prize sounds? Is there any short cut to learning long songs in other languages?

Ok, I’m going to be brutally honest here because you have one of the most beautiful, powerful, captivating classical male vocals i I have ever heard in my life and want to see your channel explode with success. To me your pop covers are beautiful but in an amateur choir boy high school talent show kind of way. I believe if you added WAY more twang and pharyngeal resonance to your pop covers your videos would go viral and many more doors of success and prosperity will be opened for you. I wish you much luck, happiness and success!!

I’m trying to learn how to sing pop now as well. I’m struggling quite a bit at it so I don’t really know the technical term for “I think you need to nasty your sound up a bit” 😆 I’m even more impressed with your character because of your classy response to my comment.

A fellow fighter and singer! Glad I found your channel. A fun thing to do is mix up your fast snappy jab with one you set up like a upper cut. When you level change from high to low you can explode out of that low position with a nasty jab-like straight lead that has some bite to it 😁 On the singing topic, how would you describe developing vibrato?

Very good video. I recently noticed that my whole life I'd never considered a slow attack, or a slow acceleration into the sound. Basically I thought of notes as either on or off and it caused me to glot up and choke in subtle ways I didn't know It's strange because I was actually aware that's not what you want, but never connected it to my actual singing technique. I noticed I can even do a fast attack with this sort of micro-acceleration into the note (obviously sped up in that case), but just psychologically and hence physiologically just that idea being in my mind causes the notes to be much more manageable. It is kind of like the difference between analog and digital,

OK but what do you sound like performing a song .Power comes from great support and resonance. Dude you don't sound good. Find a competent teacher and quit wasting your time guessing. And you vibrato sounds fabricated and bot natural..
@matteomangialetti5 ай бұрын
Why aren’t there any frontal resonances? And how do you let the voice out and make it clear?
