So you’re telling me I was spelling the planets name wrong the entire time, I was calling it brite hollow 😂
@cullenlatham236622 сағат бұрын
im going to argue the first point, not because you are wrong inherently, but because there is more to debate. The nomai knew nothing of the ghost matter, and therefore couldnt account for how it would interact with the sun. Yes, the interloper itself did not cause the supernova, but saying it had no effect is a much different claim. Why do i believe its lingering payload of ghost matter accelerated the death of the sun, no matter how little the overall effect? it is simply because, even on the scale of the game, the red giant phase just feels a bit too short. Yes, the sun died naturally, but we dont see the aftermath of the supernova while locked in the ATP or with the mechanical constraints of all the bad endings at the same time. We cant definitely prove the ghost matter had no effect, just as much as we cant definitely prove the ghost matter had an effect. Maybe it is my own selection/confirmation bias, but from the little i observed without going out of my way to conduct an experiment by watching the process loop after loop, it seems the interloper, at least in the context of the simulation running properly, gets absorbed into the sun mere moments before the supernova. I am only claiming the interloper was the spark, the catalyst, to set it off while the already old and frail sun was reaching the end of its life. The interloper was a bullet fired at a sun on death's door already conversing with the reaper. Call it a mercy kill to end the suffering, or claim the sun was dead before the bullet hit its "target"?
@TheLoreExplorer13 сағат бұрын
You sort of can prove it though. If you were really worried about it you could do the math of expansion. I havent done that or checked the code. But I often talk with modders who scour the code and never once have they mentioned it even though Ive asked them for interesting tidbits often. I understand why normal people wouldnt. But Ive watched the sun explode from the map screen 100's of times for various reasons. I never notice an acceleration in expansion. But most importantly, minute 1 in the game you can go to the sun station and itll tell you the exact time the sun will explode. This doesnt change as the interloper collides and its entirely correct to the second. This wasnt a prediction from the nomai or anything. The sun station is actively monitoring the sun. If the interloper had an effect the timer would most likely change. But for whatever reason if it didnt update instantly then the timer would still have time on it as the sun explodes. Also keep in mind that the natural expansion of the sun to begin with is the only reason the interloper struck the sun. Its understandable to think so but the interloper honestly shouldnt change anything and we see no evidence to the contrary
@cullenlatham23667 сағат бұрын
@@TheLoreExplorer yeah, i really cant quite vocalize it properly. it is all head canon, and i am willing to accept those who believe either way. It is the natural death of the sun, but what i am trying to argue is the coincidence that both are timed to happen at the same point. all the timers in the game are not just predictions, but i equally have a hard time trusting the sun station with 100% accuracy if it is already consumed by expansion by the time the natural death occurs. No, the best way i can put it is that all the timers are accurate and it is the natural death of the sun, but the interloper can still be the cause by mere coincidence. In the same way time/warp travel brought up the question of equipment error with the level of time distortion, i can believe that the coincidence is a bit more than that. If the loop is exactly 22 minutes and we give the sun a full minute to explode, that puts the sun's remaining life at 00:21:00.00 exactly. What i am trying to argue is such a minute change that we couldnt prove it one way or the other for mechanical limitations. if we take that 00:21:00.00 as fact, then i argue the interloper causes the death at 00:20:59.99, so minuscule a change it would be impossible to prove due to human and equipment error. In the end, both can be argued, but my take shifts the "blame" of the scale of cosmic events. Or to put it another way, i am arguing there is no such thing as coincidences in a closed time loop circuit, and that ghost matter is an unknown we cant fully quantify. The sun station would and could never make the sun explode, but ghost matter is an unknown element that has never been tested. We only know 3 things about ghost matter through the process of the game, the first 2 are told directly (in roundabout ways), and the last is something observed to close a plot hole. First, we know it is dangerous to sentient life, destroying the nomai in an instant and hearthians in a matter of moments just because of how long it has been around. Second, that it is very likely a radioactive element working off half-lives, due to the talk of its abundance at the ghost matter burst compared to what was told to the hearthian kid playing by the enclosed patch in the village, and the comparitvely limited supply across the solar system we explore within the loop. Finally, we can prove it is harmless underwater, though it does not disappear if submerged due to the hearthian's survival of the ghost matter burst and the tunnel on gabbro's island (or the jellyfish island for a much less contained example). None of those 3 details tell us how it would react when impacting a sun near the end of its life that contains none of it. When i argue an unprovable timeline about the interloper just coincidentally hitting the exact moment of death to "steal the kill", i am arguing an elemental reaction to an unknown element is causing a chain reaction to start the process of exploding, compared to a completely natural explosion with no interference from ghost matter. The end result is the same, the sun lived its full life and went supernova, it is only the details that allude us. TL;DR? What is ghost matter, exactly? It is one of the few unknowns we cant truly crack once the game is over, and the game doesnt quite provide enough... anything to completely solve the mystery. The closest we can get is "ghost matter is ghost matter", which is a bit too self-fulfilling to be a satisfying answer.

The important, in my mind, isn't the most advanced technology but their philosophy and belief system. Their philosophy about the knowledge is radicaly different : The Nomai's was about find knowledge, understand it and transmit it. The Elk's was about find a knowledge which is based on a belief. But, when they don't accept this knowledge, they burn it, censure it, hide it and don't hesite to be violent to protect the truth but above all, their lies. Concerning belief, we see that the Elks are the most radical in this aspect. They have sacrificied everything : their moon, their life mode to find the Eye of the Universe, the answer to all their question metaphysicals. But they didnt accept the answer and refused the call. The one who doesn't believe their dogma is emprisonned for the eternity, his house burnt, his image erased from the history and even images. In the Elk people, we have a herd behaviour where everyone must agree with the principal opinion and the originals are banished forever from their life. But we can't forget that the Nomai had too an Altar in their both cities for the Eye of the Universe. It shows the importance of their quest of truth about the Eye, the universe's secrets... A quest which has lead Escall's clan,to take a risk inconsiderate (but justified in their philosophy) to find the source of the most strange phaenomen never discovered. For them, who cherishes their vessel as an home (the vessel isn't broken but hurted, the survivors from unfortunate Capsule 1 renounce to find an escape to stay and listen its last sounds...) The others survivors renounce to a part of their identity : they sacrifice their mode of life of nomad (Nomaï, coincidence ? I don't believe it) to become sedentary for building the project to find the answer to the Eye of the Universe. It's very important. Concerning the Altars... Elk's Altar are like churches and the Eye is an important religious symbol, it's holy and venerated, the Promise Land.... The Eye is above all, a religion. When their belief in this symbol becomes heretical, they burn its representation everywhere, even in the house of a Elk believes in the Eye of the Universe. They burn his house twice ! But attention ! The Nomaïs too have their Altars. The difference rests in the acceptation of all the opinions from everyone. Solanum beeing child thought that the Eye was evil but she doesn't look shunned for thinking that in her school. She is supported to learn more about it and she changes her opinions by her studies and her travel to the Quantum Moon. And she was one of the rare Nomaï who was synchronized with a mask and a statue for the projet Ash Twin Project ...before her initiatic travel when children were forbidden to see in the workshop of the statues. It's the first difference between Nomaï and Elks, they are agree for not be agree. They have differences of opinions very strong (about ethic like the sun station is an exemple, the end justifies or not the method ?). Some Nomaïs believed that they were the Chosen Ones for finding the Eyes of the Universe, others Nomaï thought that the signal was adressed to everyone with the will and means to come). The Altars weren't not so much religious churches based but philosophy meetings, even if some Nomaï were believers. The second difference is their deep respect for the life. The Elks have destroyed their moon, their ecosystem, for building an immense vessel to find the Eye of the Universe. They don't try to install themselves on another planet and prefer to grip to their nostalgy. They don't shearch others knowledges and prefer to hide themselves and not to be found. The Nomaï have taken risks too (Escall in particular) but the signal was sudden and could (would be) stopped in an instant. They didn't have the the time for reflexion, to warn the other clan. It was now or never. And the cost in Nomaï lives was enormous: between a tier and the half of their clan. (capsule 1+ death when the vessel was crashed on Dark Brambles). BUT, the Nomaïs had an big respect for the life (studying the specy which has attempted to eat them...) but above all, find a more difficult mining site for not interfering with the habitat of this cute life form amphibian with four eyes no yet totally evoluated. But they had the faith they could evoluting because, when minning, they took only the matter necessary for the project Ash Twin because the future species would have need of that ore to explore the space. Third difference ; the Elks haven't accepted their mistake. Worse, they are prepared to kill or torture for protecting their lies or the terrible truth about what they have done. The Nomaïs had to accept their many failure many times for seeking the Eyes of the Universe or to understand the Quantum Moon (on Alterrock, in the South Observatory in Brittle Hollow, the Hourglasses twins, the Solar Station unability to work and finally, their powerless to stop the Interloper to destroy their civilization.) Fourth difference :The acceptation of the Death and the life: We have proof that the Nomaïs were in love, couples who were funny, cute, very too much enthousiastic, obvious too...with density of a blackhole... They had children; They were loved, admired by their elders for their curiosity and rules to respect scientific reality. The main relation is between from Master to Student who becomes Master and teach their pupils. At least three or four generations ! One of the most crushing thing is to find skeletons of children... The Nomaïs were taken by surprise by the Interloper but we see that Solanum has accepted that she is probably dead and her people too because nobody had found her. The Elks refuse the Death AND the life. They have elders, but they have not children. It's a people without future.They refused to colonize a planet no by respect but because they were emprisonned in their nostalgy of the past. A such Nostalgy that they have preferred to create a virtual world of their dream (where they have done any mistake) and to live this little life during hundred of thousand years... Without changing anything. Without evoluate, without progress and they are dead for becoming immortal and cease all progress. Five : About their technology ; Perhaps the Elks, beeing eldest, were more "evoluated" technologicaly when they have found the Eye of the Universe (attain interstellar travel by the long way isn't easy !) or created this virtual reality (with many bugs) but after they have go in , any evolution, any progress. The one exception to progress was the prisonner : his paint in his burnt house showing how the Eye the Universe, under the form of a flower create futur universe from the death of the precedent is a beauty. Contrary to the Nomaïs who learn new things in physical (time travel); biology (the ancestor of Hearthians, coalacanthus), physical of the difference between the twisters of Giant Deep, Quantum Physical with the rock and the moons, astronomy, architecture... The morality in theses differences was Don't dream your life, live your dreams. For the Hearthians... They are a mix between the original Elks before the discovery of the Eye of the Universe and the Nomaïs. They live simply, in wood houses, are fishing, playing, have a love for music and art and like looking the space. The program Odyssey isn't the totality of the village but their philosophy is similar to the Nomaï : to seek, to discover and to transmit in their museum to the future generations (our character who takes the relay by visiting the museum) and the new youngs who are fascinated by the space too. But each have their own and different interrest (the obsession to cut a tree...preventing fires... make wine, to cook marshmallows...) And the most important in that : they don't seem to have a belief in something or someone. They don't know about the Eye of the Universe. Because the Elks and their too much young civilization, they have never hear the signal. But it's an Hearthian who goes in the Eye of the Universe because they has followed the past to go in the future, because they were trapped in an eternal present and didn't accept it.

This all depends on the mechanics of the atp. Some people believe its a single universe literally being sent back in time and looping, which I disagree with. But I agree with you. The atp doesnt somehow revert time in the entire universe and reset the solar system allowing the same sun to explode 1 million times. Neither are you sent back in time. Any version of the hatchling and universe would only experience the sun exploding once. But the way I see the mechanics in my brain noodle is an infinite series of multiverses. I imagine that in order to move to different moon locations, there has to be a POSSIBILITY or maybe an entangled version of you that can observe the moon at different locations. Since the ghost matter killed her at every other moon location, if she went back to the tower, she would find herself completely unable to travel to any of the other locations given that there is no version of her capable of consciously observing the moon anywhere but at the 6th location.

If the next universe comes from the smoke of the fireplace at the ancient glade, which comes from the tree that formed by "you" the player, then who was the smoke/tree of the current universe? The only other character I can think of which has this same tree-symbolism is The Prisoner, both from the flower-picture in their house, and their grave remnants in the ancient glade supporting the life of a new tree. The Prisoner also seems like the second most important character for The Eye to be observed, after the player. While there were many important Nomai, there were no single Nomai that made such an important decision (except for maybe Escall who ordered The Vessel to warp ASAP?). There is definitely a lot of symbolism with the trees, since they're also the only other object in the game that become quantum, not just in that they move around, but it literally has the quantum texture (in the part right after the galaxies fade out, but before you meet "yourself" and become a tree). The tree becomes a quantum "solid" this way, but also a gas by burning at the campfire just before starting the new universe. Please tell me if I sound too crazy.
@TheLoreExplorer6 күн бұрын
@@jesper2k I sort of like the thought process behind this. But I think there may be a bit of confusion and maybe conflation. The current universe isn’t really looping as such. Just as there is a new species in the end slide when we restart the universe, this is how our universe would’ve been as well. The chances are that the prisoner didn’t exist. I have always put forth the idea that gabbro was the previous observer of the eye. Not actually gabbro. But the last universal loops version of gabbro. The reasons are sort of flimsy but there are actually a good bit of them. Firstly , gabbro is the only character in the universe , including the nomai , who understands the quantum phenomenon. Secondly, they are brought into the time loop with you and seems to intuitively pick up on what’s happening there as well. Then, to top it off. Gabbro meditation. At first it may seem silly. But think about it. If you were just trapped in a time loop, your island on giants deep gets launched into space. As soon as it exits the atmosphere you see the sun has exploded. The explosion is spreading and heading right for you and everyone you love. Can you clear your head? Gabbro can. Personally, the only way I think someone could accomplish this is if they understood the universe of outer wilds. And the only way I think that could really happen is if a character visited the eye in the last universe. But again , even then , it wouldn’t look like gabbro. It’d be like if we made it to the eye and had an effect on the next universe. For example in the next universe one of the bug people would inherently understand black holes.
@jesper2k5 күн бұрын
@@TheLoreExplorer Thanks for the response :) My guess is that the developers had a complete main storyline before the DLC, and that the DLC doesn't significantly alter this story, so I'd agree that Gabbro (or their precursor) is more likely as they're in the main game. One thing that doesn't work out with that theory is that the observer of The Eye does not continue into the next one, only their memories of others (i.e. nomai -> moth people, and stranger's inhabitant -> lantern people, and even their scout). You never see anyone like the hatchling in the next universe (at least from the end panel). So Gabbro would be a memory of the previous observer, not the observer themselves. Also, I'd say that all the travelers kind of "meditate" by playing their instruments despite each of their stressful circumstances, but I would agree that Gabbro is definitely the outlier here with the knowledge about quantum stuff. Another theory I've also thought a lot about is About Oliver's "immune system" theory that The Eye is sentient and sending the signal as a call for help to prevent a "heat death" scenario. Dark Bramble is more of the antagonist in this theory, as it's something that not even The Eye could predict. According to the inhabitants' vision when they scan it up close, Dark Bramble is still its previous planet when there are no background stars i.e. at the end of the universe.
@jesper2k4 күн бұрын
More evidence for the Tree Theory™: When you walk across the eye storm (southernmost half), the only two objects that appear and disappear quickly are quantum shards and trees. Does that mean that there's inherent quantumness with trees or that the memories of The Eye's observer start appearing even even before going into the vortex?

I think that the younger Dark Bramble was much smaller and more active, as evidenced by how quickly the seed on Timber Hearth grew. When the Nomai warped in, the bramble reached out and started pulling it in, trapping the vessel and an escape pod. Then, over time, Dark Bramble grew and grew, growing around the vessel, bringing it comparatively deeper and deeper into the core.
