I have a pair of Baggies shorts, that I’ve had since I was 26, I’m 55 now and still wear them most of the summer, had adventures in them and love them! Patagonia last as long as you want it to, I’ve got 3 Capilene tops from the 90’s and I wear them most f the winter in the UK. Most of the clothes I buy these days days are Patagonia….i believe in live simple..but buy once, buy the best and hang on to it!

One has to be very careful when listening to these military experts of a settler colonial society. Canada is a settler colonial project and we can be sure the military can do nothing to control climate change nor the entire range of problems faced by society. Keep sowing panic, while serving capitalism. What a bogus charade.

I may hate the word “Hope”, it’s just useless in every way, except as a lie, like a temporary ceasefire. “It’s just what we do” is my train of thought, because when we “hope” we become listless, we need to move, to make that happen. What’s the matter with saying “because it needs to be done, and I’m the one to do it”? Takes out all the excuses to shrug it off. Of course some things are out of our sphere, and for them I say, send your love, lots of love, and often.

George Mombiot, when talking about hope, says that we should begin by preaching to the choir. So, when we feel disenfranchised or disempowered by large corporations and lobby groups and deaf bureaucracy, we should just tell our friends and family, our social media contacts, etc. because this builds grass root momentum and movements grow from the bottom up.
@markrichter20534 ай бұрын
“Collective fiction” could also apply to religion. OK, who else, on hearing Margaret’s phrase, “collective fiction” to describe money immediately also thought of religion? And then the next thought on is, well, aren’t these historically the two most socially useful inventions? And haven’t they now both become the most destructive inventions both socially and environmentally?

We're not tribal. Human beings are not tribal. That's not what 'nation-states' are. A tribe is like a relatively small unit, where you know everyone in the tribe, or kind of do, and it's sort of an extended family that you can turn to for actual real help in the real world, because a small nuclear family is a terrible institution, and why would you ever limit your day to day existence to such a small group of immediate-family blood relations for a whole host of reasons. And so a numerically larger but still pretty small tribe is just better. Nations or countries are totally dissimilar, and the only thing holding them together is the same language, and some of the particular, familiar cultural quirks, as well as the brute force of law/violence, and mere practical necessity and inertia. But it exists mainly for the dominant group to be able to exploit the masses, by way of slavery or serfdom or high taxes. And is a completely made up invention that is not like a tribe at all. And people are not tribal at all. Other than being social animals, and not loners like cheetahs, who are born into a local society that's typically part of an official country, and being relentlessly indoctrinated, mainly because there would be no instinct to be 'tribal' without all that indoctrination, and so the elite class would not be able to dominate and exploit the poor as easily without that mother of all social constructs. So we are definitely not 'tribal'.....

Human mass on earth = 36% Domesticated land mammal mass = 60% Wild mammal mass on land = 4% 10,000 years ago there were 1500 pounds of wild mammals per human on this planet… in the year 1800 there were 200 pounds of wild mammal per human on this planet… Today there is 5 pounds of wild mammal per human on this planet… This is largely due to human overpopulation… This is ecocide. The number one thing that any one person can do to address the worldwide meta-crisis, is to support a voluntary reduction of the human population. We need a 25% ecological footprint tax for the richest 1% of the world to hire the appropriate medical staff, and set up mobile units that could go to communities around the world, paying people to get sterilized. Organizations, such as the nonprofit#WorldVasectomyDayWouldBeIdeal. When considering, renewable energy options to mitigate the suffering caused by our predicament… Don’t believe the bright green lies! There is nothing renewable about so-called “renewable energy“. “Green energy solutions”, are replaceable at best. The mining, and extractive industries. cause significant ecological damage. Energy powers ecological devastation independent of its source. If human beings actually had an endless source of free clean green energy… Which does not exist it would only fuel the acceleration of the destruction of the biosphere. Deforestation, ocean depletion, habitat loss, over exploitation, desertification, biodiversity loss, soil degradation, groundwater depletion, overpopulation, rampant pollution, and the six mass extinction would all continue to accelerate. This is not a supply problem… It’s a demand problem! Fewer humans equals less suffering for all life on earth! We really need to promote government and nonprofit funded vasectomies and tubal ligations. I realize that it is unlikely that governments will pass a tax on the rich to pay for voluntary sterilization, and you may not be able to contribute, or participate in a nonprofit that funds voluntary sterilization. However, you can discuss with others whether it is ethical to bring a child onto a planet in the midst of ecological overshoot. We can talk about the ways that we can mitigate suffering, or people can stay silent, remain ignorant, live in denial, continue to celebrate procreation, and contribute to the suffering. We can either reduce our population by choice… Or we can let nature do it in her unmerciful way… it’s biology 101… A life that is never brought into existence, is a life that will not have to suffer the unequivocal impending collapse.

I can't respect anyone who talks about protecting environment and then outsources its manufacturing in Asian countries, puts their logo on it, and then prices its products 10x for the bigger profit. How is even possible to have over 100 million dollars in profit of a billion dolar revenue if you are environmentally aware? You should serve if you claim that you love what you do, and not rake in big profits. Many people love what they do and none of them are millioners, let alone billioners.
