My late father Jerry Reinhardt was a Tomb Guard and Presidential Honor Guard during the Eisenhower Administration. He alsi has the privilege of being selected as one of the pallbearers when the WWII and Korean Unknown Soldiers were interred. I have about 40 beautiful professional photos of that ceremony. I know when i visited in 1991 one of those photos was on the wall..A HUGE blow up of it. I was so excited to be able to point at him for everyone else around me to hear and say. That's my Daddy!!

My grandfather came from Europe and visited Washington DC with me. We went to Arlington and were present at the changing of the guard. He was overwhelmed with emotion and cried in awe of the dedication, discipline and respect for the unknown soldiers executed by the 3rd US Infantry Regiment. A memory that stuck with him and continues with me. God bless.

20 years ago, I was selected to be a part of this; but I was a Reserve that was on my way to college. I turned it down and always wondered “what if?”.
@tommyodonnell9Ай бұрын
There are no Reservists at TUS. Never have been. You must be in TOG to even be considered.
@heyheyhey40Ай бұрын
@@tommyodonnell9 of course I know that. They really wanted me and were going to change me over to active duty. They also wanted me to attend airborne school immediately after AIT. I turned these opportunities down to continue on with my initial plan of going to college.

Thank you for everything your country did for the world. I think guarding heroes and the respect you have for them is truly what it means to be a human. This is such a response to all those hero’s.

The tomb guard suits are very bad the hat is bad the medals they wearing an the sunglasses make them look like guards in a strip club they don't look humble guars they look cold very flashy for no reason this is not how a humble tomb guard must be standing and guard the monument like statue also the guard stands are in wrong direction tomb guards never look the tomb in their watch they must been placed in a spot that if someone want to go close to the monument cant passed them without fall on them running around the monument all the time is not good is more like patrolling then guarding standing still, also y the guard inspector wearing a gun and not a sword wtf, it suppose to be the old guard plastic upper parts in the tomb soldiers M1 Garand what happen too solid wood common people what is this get real.

The 3rd Infantry Regiment actually started out as the original 1st Infantry Regiment in 1783 as the Regiment of Infantry and later as the 1st Infantry.. After the War of 1812, when in 1815, the Army reduced, and several Regiments were consolidated, the 1st became the 3rd Infantry because the regimental commander was 3rd most senior. Their status as the original 1st Infantry is confirmed in their motto: "The Old Guard." They are the only Infantry Regiment authorized to march with fixed bayonets without it being a special order.

As a New Zealander I'm in awe of this precision professionalism. Also I have a great uncle,who was KIA in France in WW1. All he has is a name plake, on a memorial with 75,000 other names. These young men have no grave. They died in the churning mud of "no man's land", after, "going over the top". We commerate them on ANZAC day, April 25th every year. Thanks sentinels 🌹
