I don’t know why they cut the Peter Lawford stunt out about JFK staying at franks house. That was weird how the audio was edited. And why isn’t Tommy Dorsey next to Mitch Miller??? They coulda put like 2 more minutes into thinking up this awesome invention exchange.

I believe a lot of this film was highly improvised, while Cassavetes other films were highly scripted. He was a brilliant filmmaker and fascinating man, with unwavering honesty about the film business.

I feel it is Meryl Streep trying to act as Julia Child. She got the surface, but she did not deliver Julia‘s essence. Just my personal opinion, I think Streep's acting here is overrated.

People who love Meryl think everything she does is golden. This is not a particularly good portrayal of Julia by Streep. It's okay but no great shakes. She gets some of the ticks right but she has zero of her essence, none of her delightfulness. Too much Streep mugging.

Meryl's impression of Julia sounds exhausted and flustered, as if she's just run a few miles, and was also a bit higher in tone. While Meryl nailed Margaret Thatcher, she kinda swung and missed on Julia. Close only counts in horseshoes.

Aha … and now we have Sarah Lancashire in the title role of the new HBO series ‘Julia’ I give it a 5 star plus recommendation … it’s glorious … and Ms Lancashire’s superstellar performance will hopefully win her an Emmy and a BAFTA 🤞🏽 Also starring Bebe Neuwirth and David Hyde Pierce (a Frazier reunion no less) both adding more depth and class. The other members of the cast just knit everything together so beautifully. It’s such are lovingly created series … I hope the Julia Child fans will fall in love with it as much as I did! 💜

A very main difference between both is that Meryl Strep impersionation is more like delicat and a little weak and agitated Julia than actual Julia Child who looks pretty strong and more relaxed

god she really fking exaggerated. i couldn't concentrate on this movie at all. it just looked so clear to me that Merly was just portraying a character - except very poorly, at it. I kept on thinking how awful she did Julia's signature accent and i switched back and forth from actual videos of julia child talking to confirm that i wasnt crazy for thinking her impersonation was terrible. just terrible.
