I dunno. I'm going to be honest here. The original radio edit is one of my favorite tracks of all time. But this is the first time I've encountered the 12" edit, and I'm not particularly impressed. The added overdubs seem mostly superfluous and sometimes a bit distracting, and the long drum bridge doesn't really add anything interesting to the mix. I was mostly just wishing it would end so we could get back to the music. I don't think the two lead-ins in this mix really blend together very well, either. But maybe that's just me. If there's anything I would like to see, it would be a version that returns the bridge verse they dropped. That's the one thing the S&G version really has over this one. I don't know if they ever even recorded it, however. This is not to say I dislike it, but in the end I prefer the short, clean, punchy nature of the radio edit.
