I've only been using fountain pens for a year now. I'm totally hooked, by the way. I have no.5 nibs and no. 6 nibs. I've never heard of a no.7. How does it compare to the 5&6?

Can i ask roughly how much it cost for the upgraded pen and nib? Cypress is selling the raden dragon now right now for $1134 with only a gold nib, no steel option. I'll have to pick a different design becuase that prices me out unfortunatly :(

So many pens? I admire your self control. Only ten pens each week. I see 17 on my desk right now. I think I can stand to clean and archive one of them. The others are such great writers, I couldn't relegate them to a desk drawer. They deserve to write!

There are so many fountain pen inks channels on KZbin that do pretty much the same thing, this one offers a fresh view of inks by comparing them, very simply and, as far as I can judge it, by using a very good light source, which is absolutely essential to show the true color of the inks, as otherwise the digital camera is very likely to rebalance the colors to provide an "optimization" of some sort.

I have this pen in the platinum plated trim. The platinum one came with a Platinum nib, a first at the time of its release, over 20 years ago. This pen was made for the retailer Giardino Italiano, with 500 in vermeil and 500 in platinum plated. The pen also came with a matching ballpoint pen. Did you get the ballpoint as well? The box should be an imperial blue color, your box has turned a green color, unfortunately

There is a Benu matcha latte pen with matcha powder infused in it (if I remember correctly), Goulet exclusive. Might be to your liking?

The silver overlay is wonderful.

Love all of these, though my favourite is Bleu Myosotis, also one of the oldest from Herbin, along with Perle Noire, Rouge Caroubier, Violette Pensée and Vert Reseda (another fave). Thank you for the sumptuous display of colour and texture! Great review!

I bought also in orange red in EF. It writes well.

Why is it so hard fir the sonar pen

This is absolutely a beautiful pen. I have been eyeing it for awhile… Maybe I will really have to buy it soon HAHA. By the way, I have the Jane Austen Ink. It does looks like gray when you first swatch or write with it. However, give it a day or 2 and go back to your writing, you will noticed that the writings turned to be brown or amber colour. I believed, that is how the ‘Umber’ name came from. The concept is to show Jane Austen as a mysterious lady and the umber means “shade”. You have to consider getting it. It’s an interesting and beautiful ink.

except this was technically a reboot of conway stewart as well, just the first iteration before british bespoke took over...neither reboots are technically conway stewart of old

Good review. Like you, I'm not fussy on pocket pens. But I have found with Hong dian that their nibs are excellent. I have bought a collection of 12 Hong dians as they have been released, and the nibs have been really good. In my opinion, Hong dian is the best of Chinese manufacturers.

I have one of these in blue, and it writes great, smooth as can be. It's pretty good about not drying out if neglected for a few weeks too. I must have had really good luck, because I have several black forest Hongdian pens and they all write really well, especially the black one. It's one of my favorites. I'm glad to have another pocket pen available on the market too!

Good review other than the copying Kaweco commentary. I disagree with your opinion here. This pen is not a Kaweco knockoff or copy. It looks nothing like a Kaweco Sport and it writes better in my opinion. Kaweco nibs are very inconsistent. I even got the now piston fill Kaweco Sport and when it arrived, the nib had no slit between breather and tip and was totally useless. The Hongdians are great every time out of the box. You can also buy about 8-10 of these pens for the price of a metal Kaweco.

I got the pen in matte green EF and im using it for sketching. Its super comfortable and the nib is semi dry and doesnt have flows from my experiences with hongdian black forest pen

Do you have a video showing how to remove the nib? Also, I like the nibs a bit wet and I have medium to big writing. Which nib do you recommend? I hate the fine ones...I was thinking of getting it in broad, is it very very wet?
