Thank you so much for explaining that so clearly. I’m such a beginner that I wouldn’t know where to start to find the ingredients to substitute. For example we can’t get Gertsey Borate in the UK. Do you have a video or information about what we can use to substitute ?

Thanks so much for that. I’m just starting out - so have so many questions. Where can I find out information about the chart and how best to interpret it ?

I like how a witness cone (near peep hole) is good back up plan and really helps with adjustments over each firing. Safety first observe witness cone and shut off kiln manually! She really explains scenarios of what can go wrong. Thanks again firthis video most helpful!

I was thinking if someone could invent/create/etc. a ceramic coffee cup that had air enclosed w/i so that it would be insulated it would be a money maker. Hope to either find one or give someone the idea to "make it so".

Hi Sue, What would you recommend for a water system if you don't have running water for this process? I'm considering doing the 3 bucket method for my water system, but how could I adapt that to coincide with your reclaim method? Thanks for your video! It's SUPER helpful for those making a home studio.

I don't have running water either, I just fill buckets with water and use various buckets for fresh water, rinsing my hands, throwing etc.

So how much saturated Epsom salt to add to glaze? Is it based on dry weight of glaze and ml of saturated Epsom? A percentage? Thank you! Suzy

Thank you so much for sharing!!! I’m wondering if there’s any tricks to mixing up a new batch of glaze and then adding the remains of the older batch of same glaze together? I had Infinite Clear, Laguna, 2 lb mixed and it was fine. I made a new batch and then stirred in The old batch and now have severe hard panning. Thank you again!

Nice! My kiln arrives in October, so I am getting ready to set up my pottery studio 'from scratch'. I have decided to 'make my own' glazes, so your Glazy intro is very exciting for this 'newbie'. I'm looking forward to SOMEday have something interesting to contribute.

How much Epsom salts would you add for 2500 gm of powder glaze to get to sg of 1.5?
@BasilWallace Жыл бұрын
My mind was blown by this!! I've just gone ahead and adjusted a glaze I've created to get away from the crazing of another glaze from John's book. Based on your research I predict I would not have solved my problem with my new glaze from how it was previously and I would have been only more confused.

So how do you turn a kiln back on if the kiln sitter shuts it down? Do you tape it into place?
@suemcleodceramics Жыл бұрын
You can lift the sitter mechanism, push the power button in and then gently set it back down without letting it fall. To turn off the kiln, you just push the sitter mechanism in and the power button pops out again. You can practice before starting the kiln so you know what to do when the time comes.
