Nice break down and motion graphics. These here are 3-turns from figure skating. But they are executed in a non-proper form hunched over and stiff fashion. It looks like a hokey player decided to do some figure skating moves. Wizard skating should also involve other moves and tricks, and essentially obstacle rolling and jumping over, which differentiates it from figure skating (which just uses air for jumping over). So this video should be called 3-turns in Wizard Skating.

How long did it take you to learn to skate like that? I've been learning for three years and have just started getting the hang of some advanced stops and tricks.

I can do all of these. I thought I was messing around after I rocked my skates accidentally by skating outside so much and religiously rotating my wheels. I didn’t know it was called wizard skating. Cool!

can you do this with 2 wheels rollerblades ?
@Rollerbalding5 ай бұрын
Sort of, but not exactly. You really need middle wheels to have a pivot point in the middle of your foot, especially for one foot moves. There are aggressive skaters who do gazelles on anti-rocker, but it works differently than how it's shown in this video (it's more of a slide than a pivot)
@superbilly2835 ай бұрын
@@Rollerbalding oh... Well I guess it's no use to try and learn it this way then, with my aggressive skates.. Thanks a lot for taking time to answer!!

I´m looking at the pressure illustration, and just can't figure out how it is that at one point ithe pressure is applied to just one of the inner wheels? How can that be possible? Are the wheels on his skates of different size? By the way, I almost turn 58, and I took on rollerblading three months ago and, well, I think this is the closest thing humans have to flying. Except when you fall, of course, ha!
@Rollerbalding5 ай бұрын
Hey man, much respect for getting into blading! In regards to showing pressure on only one wheel, in skating there are different types of axle alignments in the frames called "rockering." Some frames have a 'flat' rocker where the axles are aligned perfectly horizontal so that all 4 wheels are touching the ground at once. The frames I use are rockered in a slight curve so that the middle two axles are slightly lower than the front and back ones, which makes it possible to have only one or two wheels touching the ground. You CAN achieve this by mixing different sized wheels, too. Having a rockered setup like this will give you better maneuverability when turning and carving. Hope that made some sense. If you google "inline skate rockering" you will be able to see some illustrations of this

can I do it without rockered frame or replacing the wheels? 🥺
@Rollerbalding6 ай бұрын
Yes! You will just have to break in your wheels if they are brand new. Over time they will wear down into a natural rocker if you don't change their positions when rotating wheels.

On ice these are called "3-turns" and the term usually refers to the forward outside edge variation. Hockey players only use that one, but figure skaters probably use them all

hey balding, do u think round shaped or bullet wheels are better for all those movements especially curving? :)
@Rollerbalding8 ай бұрын
I like rounded profile wheels in general, but that's just my preference. I use both profiles on different setups and wouldn't say one is better than others - It really just comes down to what feels best to you. 👍
