Have them growing all over my front + backyard! How lucky to find I can eat them. Always use 1-2 strips of bacon in my greens, added water( because I love any greens broth to drink)+ they're good. So I'll try saute-ing them this recipe sounds great. Thanks! I think I am allergic to ragweed, also grows everywhere here, but didn't notice any reactions. What would they be?? Already have the stuffy nose + weepy eye from all the other weeds around here, so what would it affect I need to know about?

I live in İstanbul and that chess set with Ottomans vs Crusaders is a well-known and popular that you can find it at any gift shop and bazaar. They are even a tourist-attraction piece/souvenir as I see they are usually surrounded by tourists from all around the world. I had always wanted to have one but they are really expensive for us Turks but I'm happy you have that and I hope you enjoy playing with it :) Oh and I have a question- do you usually play as the Ottomans or as the Crusaders? 😅

Nice paint job on the ceramic set. My favorite set is one I was given for Christmas about fifty years ago. It's a plastic set with tall figures. It was sold by Sears.

You have a great collection. I find lots of vintage chess sets and chess books in thrift stores every month. Seems nobody is into chess and donating them where I live. I also find old wooden boxes, jewelry boxes, music boxes, silverware cases, etc, that I repurpose to store the chess pieces. Crown Royal liquor bags for my plastic loose sets.

Thank you for sharing your collection! I think it is really neat that you still have your childhood sets (We are about the same age, so I know how hard it is to keep something like that through various moves. My hat's off to you.) Neat that you've enjoyed chess for so many years--I'm just getting started.

I had them stored away for many years as I did not have time to play chess. Now they are on display and I am trying to find more time to play. I actually have acquired many more sets since the video was made, so should du a sequel.

I’ve got a extremely unique chessboard you might be interested in. I make the pieces as well but it’s the board that I think is very cool and extremely unique. If you’re interested at all, let me know and I’ll send you a link to my website (I’m not sure if KZbin allows external links or auto deletes the comments).

The thin strips of veneer is what I used 60 years ago when I made my chessboard. I cut Walnut and Birch strips into 2" x 2" squares and glued them on a Mahogony board. Finally sanded and painted it all with shellac. That was before polyurethane. 😊

The black and white reversible disk is a unique idea to show whose turn it is. Especially since your will likely be enjoying some knightly Port during the battle.
@nicksaint-erne

Definitely port is involved! I usually only make one or two moves at a time, then indicate which side's turn it is. That way I can review the board when I return to continue the game and decide upon the best move for each side, with out bias.

Hello my name is Alfred. My father left me a set of stone chess pieces that are exactly like those first ones you talked about but no board. Do you by chance know the company name or manufacturer? I would love to purchase the matching board and keep it on display in his honor.
@nicksaint-erne
@nicksaint-erne Жыл бұрын
Hi Alfred. Those pieces are made of onyx stone and are hand carved in an Aztec motif. They are made in studios of Herrera Montiel in Puebla, Mexico. The set typically sells for around $150. They are fairly common in the USA from tourist bringing them home. There are often sets or boards available for sale. The pieces will break if dropped, so some sets have broken pieces or board. Look at Facebook Marketplace and search Onyx chess board and see what you find. Good luck. Those are special pieces, as yours, like mine, were from a parent.
