Search and Rescue in BC must get some good financial support, those are nice new vehicles, across the border here in the NW US we get hand me downs of hand me downs for our SAR teams, I am jealous. Good job on finding the kid.

Just the day before you posted this video Gord, I was at Kin Beach Park with my 5 year old grandson who wanted to go for a swim and play in the beach forts. Well he got to play in the forts but as far as the swimming was concerned there was a dead seal right there at the edge of the water so I told him to stay out. Some well meaning people behind us said that there was a better beach for swimming at Kye Bay or Air Force Beach. I thanked them for the suggestion but then said "Air Force Beach? Isn't that where they're constantly ripping the beach forts down? Thanks but No thanks. We're not going to that beach." You should have seen the dirty look they gave me. Why was I not surprised to hear this happened at Air Force Beach? Must be some real karens patrolling that one for me, someone who has never been on that beach to know about the beach fort wars. Now I know why. Risk Management. The bane of our existence. Say, just asking for a friend but how is it that DND OWNS anything below the High Water Mark?

the Air Force Beach property line actually doesnt include where these beach forts are built, as you can see in public documents. But i guess its close enough
@bradyfrench92163 ай бұрын
Air Force beach doesn’t own that section of the beach, but if there is an injury due to a structural collapse, which happens more often than you’d expect, the campground manager bears the responsibility. It was taken down at their request. Also, moving driftwood greater than 1m is prohibited as it’s still technically property of the logging company that allowed it to wash up. Amazing build though

Take-aways: 1. That had the makings of a Mike McCardell’esque Burning Man Festival there. 2. That building had more value than half the assets at CFB Comox. 3. Heaven forbid anyone be allowed to do anything interesting or creative in this town. Imagine a party on the beach? People gathering on a driftwood structure without helmets and ppe harnesses? 🏖️ 😂 4. He could have applied for a building permit but it would have cost $150k in fees and 4 years of processing time for the reports. 5. Kyle and his friends need a better project and more opportunities.

COME ON🤗 19 WING COMOX This is called Community Bonding / Sprit have your Engineers inspect it and correct any issues 🤔 Post Rules & Regulations signs make it clear NO MORE BEACH FORTS TO BE BUILT 🪚🔨🪓 ( ???? NOW WHAT IF THAT WAS BUILT BY THE LOCAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLE ??? ) YOU WOULDEN'T BE SO QUICK TO TEAR IT DOWN I SUPPORT YOU 100% KURBIS 🤩

I’m wondering what everyone would say if it collapsed when all those kids were having the party?
@gragor113 ай бұрын
What would we say? Just about the same thing if a plane flipped over on takeoff and squished someone down there. 'Oh what a shame'. Or perhaps 'Damn people playing on that beach front DND property. Don't they know the base is dangerous? Better fence that whole area off because someone once, somewhere, may have gotten hurt.' I'm not sure. One or the other perhaps. What would you have said?
@jujube80673 ай бұрын
@@gragor11 I doubt I would say that if a plane flipped nor would I expect DND to fence off the beach. As for if it collapsed I would say “Big surprise”.
@ownzies1003 ай бұрын
considering its actually not within the Air Force Beach property lines, probably the same they wouldve said if it was built anywhere else.

Great job on that fort. We all enjoyed it while it lasted. Thank You !

This was the best fort ever built in the Comox Valley and it brings me back to my childhood where all the local kids would band together and build forts in the woods. While I understand that it was a liability, it still brought out the inner child in thousands of people who got to enjoy it while it was there. Good job!!

A huge issue is that all of these medical specialties and treatment centers work in silos. If only they talked to each other rather than only concentrating on their one specialty. It’s how government works, which is unfortunate and needs to change. Please write to your provincial/territory leaders, to your MLA, the health minister, your federal representatives and ask for this to be brought to Canada. And please, donate to the go fund me and help Ron.
