Or even an estimate
@jeanvogler91313 жыл бұрын
A basic rule of thumb to estimate salary is to double the hourly rate you're getting, then multiply by by 1000. So, as an example, if she says she was making in the mid'20's (I'm assuming/HOPING she means hourly) then $25/hr would be $50K/yr. If she then got a pay raise of $9/hr, that would be $34/hr, which is $68/yr. New nurses I meet at my hospital in South Texas usually start at mid-20's.

Nursing can be very challenging. I would say1. Do not listen to your co workers. ( Nurses who are burned out become cynical and angry) work with blinders on. But be aware of certain personalities 2. Let yesterday be yesterday. Hit your reset button daily. 3. It there is not anyone who is encouraging, try to be that individual people are comfortable with.

Not enough. Nurses and teachers are too underpaid. I would advise a nurse to keep up with your certifications, learn new skills. And if you can , go to law school.

I want to ask for comparing purposes whether to move or not. Im presently working in Kuwait and i save 2000 us dollar a month converted after all deduction cause here no tax. Free accommodation including utilities and transportation to work. Only food and internet phone charge are not free. Sorry for comparing.
@dearnewnurse62444 жыл бұрын
pedromax68 it all depends on your years of experience and what area of nursing you are in and the shift you work and where! So many factors. I’ve made around $50K/yr working as a new grad in a suburban hospital to $75K working in a specialty area. Also, how much you are able to save monthly is subjective to your monthly expenses. If you don’t have much debt or bills you can save a decent amount on an average salary. You can be making a good salary and have tons of bills and debt and barely be able to save anything.

Cool video! How’s the job with this virus going around? I know some areas are cut. A video about radiology nursing would be cool too!
@dearnewnurse62444 жыл бұрын
I will definitely have to make one about radiology nursing! Yes, I’ve heard that areas were cut. Some areas at our hospital didn’t have procedures during the pandemic since our governor cancelled all elective procedures. Those nurses had the option to help on other units or assist with triaging employees and visitors as they entered the hospital. Fortunately, my area was still pretty busy!

Big misconception and what hospitals want you to believe, higher paying states have higher cost of living and it BALANCES OUT. This may be true in some cases but in Northern California nurses live a much more comfortable lifestyle. I spent almost two years in Texas as an RN and living paycheck to paycheck was depressing.

@@terrycrews1760 i didn’t do anything special, it was just the starting pay for that hospital. As a new grad there is little room to negotiate because the hospitals have to invest so much money to train you.

Sorry this might be a silly question but is an ADN ( associates of nursing ) a RN or LPN?. I want to be a RN the fastest way possible and later get my BSN while I’m already a RN.
@dearnewnurse62444 жыл бұрын
Kali J Hey! Not a silly question at all! RNs have either a Bachelor or Associate’s degree. LPNs obtain a certificate, usually from a vocational/technical school. LPNs are usually supervised under an RN and their nursing care is restricted. For example, they are not able to give IV medications, and they cannot work in critical care areas. They also make less than an RN. These days, you won’t find many LPNs. Atleast not in the hospital settings I’ve worked in...I’ve come across 1 LPN in the last 5 years. Also, some hospitals only hire BSNs and many hospitals are pushing their nurses with ADNs to go back to school to obtain a BSN. I encourage those who want to go into nursing to definitely go for a BSN. You be glad that you did later!
@alanamason-walker64094 жыл бұрын
Another thing to consider is that a lot of hospitals are still hiring ADNs, and most of them will help or completely pay for you to obtain you BSN. Weigh your pros and cons, and compare costs and options available to you.

Hmmm, that's a tough one for me. I travel to Dallas almost monthly but I'm not sure how the pay is there as an RN.
