Old post, I know. Thanks for it!! Just replaced the right rear brake hose, wheel cylinder, and shoes...bled it and have a bad pedal. Do you need to bleed the ABS on these?

I just want to say thank you sir! You saved me big time!! I followed your video, as a step by step, and was able to successfully change my alternator. Seeing your humor, and just how you are, gave me the confidence to want to attempt it. Lol I smacked myself with the wrench too, just at a different spot. 😂 Once again, thank you sir!

But I must admit, you got the job done! I have a 06 escape, and yes your video works for my 06 also on the alternator. What a joke to change the alternator! I upgraded my audio in mine big time and gonna upgrade my alternator to a higher amp! I'm gonna go ahead and rebuild the front while I'm at it. The entire lower wishbone with new ballpoint and bushings $98 and this 2024! Grab this stuff while it's cheap and available. New strut cap, $33

Your video is shaky. Find a place to set the camera and leave it there. If you take it all off, make sure you cover all the openings with a rag or tape so that no debris falls into your engine. While you have it all apart like that, clean the parts and replace the gaskets at least.

Hi there, I did this and unfortunately did not tighten it back tight enough. The fluid has been leaking. I got more brake fluid but is it safe to just tighten it and add more brake fluid? Or should I do this entire process all over again? Also, because my brakes had no fluid, my brakes were really soft. I, afraid to drive ir again. What’s your best advice moving forward? Can I just refill the reservoir and add more brake fluid?

I was hoping for a rear brakes bleed function too. I will be doing all the brake lines on a friend's 2014 Escape. I always use a sucker bulb to evacuate the master cylinder reservoir and fill with new "juice" before starting the process. That way you are running new fluid in as the old stuff goes out. Failure to wash out the brake lines will eventually leave the system with water down in the calipers/wheel cylinders area where it will corrode those components from the inside out. Water is heavier than the alcohols in brake fluid. Years ago, a 1975 Vega hatchback I was driving, had serious corrosion in the rear wheel cylinders which gave rise to spending $35 apiece for new ones but the spongy pedal went away. There was wetness on the backing plate of at least one of them which is what got me having a look. The corrosion was so great that after extended honing the bores were a bit large so the new rubbers kit was a little loose of a fit but got me through another year before I changed both wheel cylinders out. Since that episode I have started a yearly washout procedure on the brake system which removes the need for hundreds of dollars of work at the shop. In that scenario, where pads/shoes (old style) have gotten fluid on them they will just replace all those and of course the hardware as well. $$$

Thank you for not spending 5 minutes talking about your personal life and multiple irrelevant things not having to do with bleeding brakes. You got right to it, said you do this, look for that, do this , do that , very straight forward. You dont find that often when looking up how to videos. You could actually see what you were doing instead of having a shaky or low video quality upload. You included the tool needed and everything. This is how all repair and maintenance videos should be.
