What in the Crystal Methodist, is going on here? How will you be containing the concrete when you pour? its just going to over flow out of the top of the form. and you are going to leave the untreated footing ties embedded in the concrete? they will be rotted out in a year, and infested with wood eating bugs.
@rockyrookiehouse7732

All of it will be buried. Tell me how this will have structural issue. It is only 3/4 inch. The footing will be 4' below grade. Please elaborate on what the problem is structurally.
@schlz69
@schlz69 2 ай бұрын
@@rockyrookiehouse7732 I never said structurally, just that you will have rotten wood between your footing and wall. It also appears that the wall is no where even close to the center of the footing. If this will be 4' below grade are you doing a basement? What are you using for drain tile? no one wood forms footing anymore, almost everyone uses form-a-drain, however in a year or so you will have ground water freely flowing between the inside and outside of the wall, when those ties rot out. And again, if you are doing a single pour, How will you contain the concrete from flowing out over the top of the forms when you start filling the wall cavity?

For an immigrant looking into the reserves; Officer or NCM route for a person that already has a degree? Is it worth it in the long run, or it's better to invest one's time in something else?
@rockyrookiehouse7732
@rockyrookiehouse7732 6 ай бұрын
It always depends on what you wan to do in the forces. I wanted be technician NCM even though I could have applied Officer. I just did not want to push paper all the time. However, it is easier to change to NCM if you try and do not like officer.
@1anre
@1anre 6 ай бұрын
Oh i see, got you Just want something slightly different from office 9-5 job and learn some additional skills & maybe grow network of people along the way too. In other countries, it's really prestigious and highly sought after to become an officer but it's like the Canadian system looks down or doesn't really rate their Officer corps or promote it like the US does, and it'd always bothered me, as those are the people all the NCMS/SNCOs have to take orders from and entrust their lives in their hands, so why shouldn't more solid folks be encouraged to go there so they help shape policy and have the best interests of the men as the forefront? Don't know if Officers in the US Ranger Regiment, 82nd Airborne Regiment or even Nacional Guard units are basically"paper pushers" as they attend Ranger School, attend airborne, and do alot of field exercises and trainings just like the NCMS, but I've realized that this "dont want to be a paper pusher" trope is always dropped on folks not to encourage them to go in as an officer. My question is don't reserve officers get platoon leader time even for at least till Captain rank, before they have to step away from tactical work and then start having more of their duties focused on become more focused on strategic planning? I've always wanted to understand why the Canadian system promotes and pushes folks to go the NCM path, is it the economy that drives that or something else ? @rockyrookiehouse7732

@dustina6261
@dustina6261 7 ай бұрын
That disconnect should have been outside under or near the meter. What use or purpose does a shut off switch serve when placed right next to the main breaker? The point of disconnecting is to give breaker or fused protection to unprotected service entrance wires in case of damage or short it won’t blow the transformer it’ll trip or blow your fused protection. In your setup you protected 12in of wire, meanwhile 20ft of conductor outside is left with nothing. Prior to recent code needing a emergency disconnect, your setup wouldn’t have required this anyway because disconnect was only required if more than 3ft after entry into the building existed. Your SE conductors being outside wouldn’t have qualified needing a disconnecting means, you could have just terminated as usual, your electrician wasn’t very knowledgeable and cost you extra money for no real benefit in this install, even tho he may have gotten you a passing sticker….

That bracing system to adjust plumb looks terrible. All those 2x4 parts can and will flex under a load. I cannot imagine why you like it. All steel bracing that I've seen on Fox Block and others are far superior. Also you have a very dangerous work place with that gaping hole in the floor. Temporary hand rails are needed.

I have a house that I heat with solar energy, and I do this very successfully and with a ridiculous cost. Only one circulation pump and one fancoil unit for me. Together they consume around 40 W of electricity per hour. So compare it with the unit price at your location of 0.4 kW per 10 hours. The difficulty in this system is to reduce the flow rate to warm the water or fluid on cold days, or to prevent boiling due to overheating on relatively hot days. Enjoy afterward. My house is 100 m2 and with a 40-tube system, it heats up to an acceptable degree. This system will be insufficient for your building. I suggest you double it. A storage tank would be a good solution.

Honestly, big ups for attempting all this yourself. However, I feel this is too complicated and many points of failure and a huge cost. Would have been simpler with Air-Source-Hest pump and then bakup strip heater for hotter days. Since you have solar, you could use the funds from all these extra stuff and get batteries and just run the house off that at night. Thereby reducing your bills as well and easier.
@rockyrookiehouse7732
@rockyrookiehouse7732 Жыл бұрын
How do you know the cost. It is actually few failure points,. However, if I have to redo this, I would have used the electric element that came with both tanks instead of the electric boiler. I learned a lot and I am coming with different version of this for sale as a kit soon. I am glad I went through this and now I have the most efficient designs as a business.

A few questions, why did you not lvl and compact the gravel before putting down your styrofoam sheets? Why only 1 layer of styrofoam? Are you not supposed to put a vapor barrier under or over the styrofoam?
@rockyrookiehouse7732
@rockyrookiehouse7732 Жыл бұрын
My structural engineer told me to go with clean gravel so that I did not have to compact it. The wash the fine particles out. This way it will not shrink down. Also the stryrofoam is both vapor and air barrier. I did not need to add anymore by code. The house on the hill. I have no water issue.

My second choice would have been Foxx. The main reason for me was the support. Foxx also does not have gaps between the plastic ties allowing less shrinkage while pouring. I heat my house with Radiant floor and Fancoil. I only needed to install a very simple duct system for HRV
