I went to one once because my budget didn’t allow a trip to Xel Ha and I wanted the free passes. Didn’t care so much about wasted time because we were in Cancún for 2 weeks and we didn’t feel like doing anything that day. I feel bad for people who aren’t used to high pressure situations. I just brought up a website where people are giving away their timeshare and selling them for $1. Also brought up that I’m aware that the value goes down 99% as soon as you sign the paper. Time them on the 90 minutes as well, that’s what I did. That will get them to leave you alone, if you do make the bad choice of going to one like I did. Still wasn’t worth the free tickets. It was an uncomfortable encounter. They will try and suck you in at the resorts by giving you a “tour” of the property or the sister properties if they have them. Best to say that you’re on a time crunch and keep it truckin. 😊

My family have it upside down - visiting museums and alike is the “nothing” days - shopping is probably is biggest thing. Also easier to walk less visiting museums/parks/castles than walking around downtown.

I so agree! 👍 I rather skip some of the sights and just enjoy being present at the place: read a book in a park, sit in a café in the old center and watch people walk by, walk aimlessly along the cobblestone streets and breath in the atmosphere ❤ Greetings from a Finn visiting France 😊

If my experience is something to go by you don't have to say anything, just show the person in the seat that you have a reservation for the seat that person is in and the person will move (and in my case wish me a pleasant onward journey as he left the train some stops later)

Same way with Hawaii. Reef safe sunblock is mandatory.

I like to DoorDash or whatever the local equivalent is. I’d like to see what the most popular restaurants are and order the most popular dishes.

Thatʼs a cool idea! I always love to check out the local supermarkets while travelling and look what they have. That also can tell a lot about the people.

Sorry about the A/C. Israeli hospitality is really horrible; you really have to be confrontational with them to get anything done. I learned that Israelis are very direct, so I'm not shy to tell them how I feel. Because you have family in tow, you probably wouldn't do this, but I would have brought my things in the lobby to sleep and waited until they fixed the A/C. Israel in the summer is just brutal with a 0% chance of rain.

You always have great advice, thanks! I already booked this hotel for our stay in the Spring. Luckily, we paid with points and certificates. Otherwise we'd be talking some 450 Euros a night! 😧I don't think I've ever shelled out that amount of money for a hotel room, but I'm excited for our trip after having seen your review. With any luck, they'll see your review and do something about their internet service.

Europe: Go inside a church to have a little rest! Asia: Why did they have to build all those temples and shrines up on some steep hill? (earlier this year Kompirasan, only a 1368 step climb.....about three times as much as climbing the highest chuch tower in our country....) But yeah, even as an atheist I do like the calm and quiet of churches.

I do have a couple, but hardly ever use them. Mostly because I just keep travelling to Japan over and over again, and no one will even dare touch your stuff there. But also because I'm not that sure what signal it would give. On the one hand, a lock does prevent someone from casually opening you luggage, and might pick an easier target instead. On the other hand......it might seem an indication that there is something valuable in there, thus potentially making you a target. And in most cases I will have anything valuable on me, and I don't think anyone will be happy with either my dirty laundry or my souvenirs....

We stay at the Guy Fawkes Inn whenever we visit York (we live in the Cotswolds), and we love the Guy Fawkes for its atmosphere and central location. The breakfasts are great! We're returning there to stay in that very four-poster room in Feb 2025 when we attend the Jorvik Viking festival. Can't wait. We've also stayed at The Lamb & Lion Inn, just above the Bootham Bar.,
