Boa tarde Fred. Difícil essa missão. São autoramas do tempo do “fotolito”… não eram desenhos digitais e sim em chapas de impressão. Eu fiz algumas caixas capturando imagens do autorama na internet, e trabalhando com o programa coreldraw foi possível recuperar as imagens com qualidade razoável. Não tenho prática com o programa, mas um amigo fez pra mim. Inclusive, se a imagem está em ângulo (enviesada) é possível corrigi-la. Até mesmo as falhas do tempo são reconstituídas; não é caro e quanto mais definição tiver a imagem, melhor será o resultado. Imprimi em papel adesivo e fiz a tampa com papelão liso, como era na época. Ficou muito bom 👍🏼 Boa sorte e obrigado pela pergunta. Abraço

Bah! Faz tempo. Meu amigo nem trabalha mais com isso. Mas faz como te falei; procura exatamente imagens do Autorama que pretendes e trabalha ela… tem até programas melhores e mais fáceis atualmente.

Dae Manoel; obrigado pela pergunta 👍🏼 Não conhecia essa lancha; vi agora algumas fotos. É uma lancha bonita e de um bom estaleiro. Suposições apenas: não sei o estado do teu casco para o projeto… tem que estar “condenado” para recuperar a lancha original; pois se for ainda recuperável para continuar sendo uma lancha, creio que o custo de restauração será bem menor do que fazer um veleiro, e continuará sendo uma boa lancha. Vende-lo e investir na compra de um veleiro “de verdade” talvez seja a melhor opção (?). O casco da Magnum 23 é um “monobloco”… a estruturação do casco está fundamentalmente integrada ao cockpit, ou seja, cortar o cockpit vai exigir muito investimento na reestruturação do casco, e isso inviabiliza o projeto, pois o resultado pode ser uma “coisa”… nem uma lancha e nem um bom veleiro. Outra: 23 pés é um barco de porte médio/grande; se você for fazer um veleiro de 23 pés, o desejo será de encarar mar aberto, e o projeto me parece não ser seguro para essa empreitada. O barco do video está quase pronto, mas era um casco reforçado e sem cockpit; e vai ser um daysailer para águas abrigadas - baías e lagoas (quando pronto vou fazer um video e mostrar aqui no canal). Enfim, tem que estudar melhor essa tua ideia; mas confesso que prefiro 1.000 vezes um veleiro do que uma lancha… não vais jamais te arrepender por essa troca 🙌

Sim, o EVA. É bem leve o material, mas pra que tenha bom grip/aderência necessita de aplicação de produtos químicos; fato que resseca os pneus muito rápido. Uso a espuma de borracha pois tem grip médio e vida longa; não suja a pista e com uma escova de dentes ou lixa, você consegue recuperar a aderência dos pneus por muitos anos.

Vais te divertir e gostar do resultado Jean 👍🏼 Não tem segredo como visse no vídeo; inclusive hoje já é possivel comprar o painel de MDF cortado nas medidas. Bom trabalho e qualquer dúvida que eu possa lhe ajudar é só perguntar.

@@pcf366 good question 👍🏼 thanks. The two machines were the table saw, to cut the strips (but this job can be done in a shop) and a band saw. The power tools were the jigsaw, drill, screwdriver, sander and plane. The main hand tools are the plane, wood rasps and lots of F clamps. Lastly, tape measures, squares and bevel gauge. Good work my friend; the result is very good forever.

I had to be persistent and never give up, because not every day the work goes well. But I would like to encourage you to make a wooden boat, because it is a pleasant job and excellent for your physical and mental health. Before building the TITMOUSE I made two small boats of simpler construction, to learn about the tools and correct gluing… and the results were good. I can’t publish it, because the book is copyrighted - Boatbuilding In Your Own Backyard, by S.S. Rabl - Try to find it in used book stores or public libraries. Didn't you use a steam generator to shape the strip planking?

Here, in Guarapari, I have several types of eucalyptus available.

It’s not necessary with this strip measurement.

In my region there are also eucalyptus trees; it can even be used for a canoe, but for a job like this I believe that a more nautical quality wood = cedar for example.

Thanks Nick 👍🏼 When I decided to build the TITMOUSE, I did so because it was a beautiful boat and the challenge of the strip plank hull. As for the rudder, I was really suspicious because it was wide but shallow; I even thought about modifying it for a rudder with deeper action, but I saw that almost all models of that time - and of this size - have the rudder in this format (protected by the directional stern kell/skeg). However, the central kill works very well and the boat lulls efficiently; but because I sail in a lagoon I feel well protected when surprised by strong winds. The hull has a flat botton and is very stable in medium winds, but in strong gusts, with the boat heeling, it tends to leave me without rudder control… She is certainly not an open ocean boat. Your observation is very good.

Thanks Ross; good question 👍🏼 In addition to the all-light wooden construction (with the exception of a few parts), and all waterproofed with epoxy resin, I use some expanded polyurethane floats underneath the removable decks, and an empty 30-liter plastic gallon in the bow. The hull is very stable in relation to the sail area, and for safety I also don’t use a teether on the mainsail - like Optimist, when the wind is strong. I’ve had some scares - it’s a fact of sailing - but I haven’t capsized the boat yet…

Of course Peter. I did it according to the project published in the book “Boatbuilding in your own backyard” by S.S.Rabl, 1995 edition. The book has some complete and super detailed projects, I chose and made the TITMOUSE 15.
