He has 3 goals and 1 assist in 42 appearances all season, how is that not abysmal? And overall, 5 goals and 13 assists in 172 premier league appearances overall is an absolutely poor return for a midfielder of his quality.

Actually I do understand his role, as I’ve watched him for years for both Madrid and Chelsea. Extremely talented midfielder but he lacks that edge and always has. Was he a good signing for city? My opinion aside, yes…But that doesn’t mean he’s had a good season, similarly to Grealish, I believe they both underperformed. A midfielder that breaks forward as often as Kovacic should at least have many more goal involvements, he lacks that edge in regards to that and the key to his role for Croatia this time around will be his work ethic and his ability to make decisions on the ball, specifically under pressure. Either way, I don’t see him REALLY showing up in this tournament, Modric and Perisic are aging and they probably won’t be as potent… It’s going to be interesting. Also, I’d be perfectly fine having a decent discussion about an opinion I’ve had without you throwing phrases like “you know nothing about football” It’s childish. Seriously.
