Top Tip: why not put some shock troops on the base… I’ve got a heavy bolter team from the heavy weapons box & I cut out tiny bits of gauze pipe screens to fit the canopy of my Valkyrie

Well said, yes I have come across the Chocolate Starfish you mention 😂 oops, I'm sure I bought from him ten years ago and I got what I paid for, but it was probably small specific decent bits or figures i could easily clean. Good luck with the amry😊

Thank you for your kind comment. I’m glad this video helped. How clean do you want the white fur? With white I would be tempted not to start with black but I would go mechanicus standard grey base coat then use a couple of thin coats of corax white apothecary grey contrast paint over that and gryph charger grey contrast in deeper recesses. If you just want to drybrush then going from black I would try mech grey then dawn stone then corax white with a faint white scar at the end. Have a go with a spare fur pelt or model and see what you prefer!

I like your Style & did it to my SW so far. Do you have an idea for black/ grey to white fur?

could you draw on these with dry erase marker?

They do have a sheen on them but I wouldn’t want to risk it. Put some clear plastic (like a cut up laminating pouch) over the top and they would be good to write on!

Back in 8th edition, white lion chariot was better than the normal chariot in my opinion. White lions and Swordmasters were my favourite units though so maybe some bias…

I always say, when in doubt, crib some historicals! Fireforge games have a range of plastic Byzantine cavalry and infantry. In particular the cavalry kits from this range would be perfect for kitbashing into high elf cavalry, 2 kits most appropriate are the Koursores and horse archer sets, kitbashing the riders with some spare elf heads and embellishments will give you a close-enough-good-enough looking stand in for silverhelms and ellyrian reavers. As for the infantry with some head swaps and appropriate shields the spearmen kit will do well to bulk out an under strength unit of spears, though they're fairly different looking enough to stand out if you were to use them on their own.
@MiniModelMakes2 жыл бұрын
What a great idea. Kitbashing some historical models could be a good compromise. And of course empire and brettonian armies should have some strong options out there already! Thanks for your comment and idea.

So ive been looking everywhere for cannon colors for DKoK. Where did you come up with the red and white pattern? I absolutely love your paint job! Subbing!
@MiniModelMakes2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the lovely comment and sub. In World War One tanks would have different coloured striping on the side to denote company and affiliation so it was easy to locate your squad mates on the battlefield and stay in formation. This was replicated by games workshop originally in the old epic scale which had original tank platoons when fielding something of that size was just a dream for many 40K players. Red and white stand out and seem very krieg in their appearance on vehicles.

I've always assume they wore gray for the most part but the new mini set is more blue. So confused lol however I think different regiments wear different colors in some instances.

For the questions at the end of the video: - The magic systems in 7th and 8th change greatly. I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that the magic cards are only from 8th in the high elves case. However, they're only a reference, as the spells come in the corebook and army book, so you don't actually need them (but they're handy). - For terrain, there is a lot of choice. Leaving aside 3D printing (which gives a ton of options), tabletop world have some great (but pricy) kits. Gale force nine's battlefield in a box kits are pretty decent, and reasonably priced. WWS scenics have good random stuff like trees and such. Games Workshop obviously has some nice scenery, although I don't like most of the Age of Sigmar terrain that much (and it tends to clash with WFB's aesthetics). However, there are a few kits that are really great. One of them is the Sigmarite Mausoleum (originally a WFB kit, hence why it looks so good), and also the lake-town houses for The Hobbit, while a tiny bit smaller in scale than Warhammer, they are still large enough to work well, and give serious Empire vibes (and can be assembled without the dock parts, which is also handy).

A bit late to this, but for white I can't recommend Contrast Apothecary White enough. It's fantastic. You can then highlight it with pure white. It's quick, and will look very nice.

Nice paint jobs so far! Looking good. Hope you managed to get some games in! I’ve spent the last year building up a few armies for 8th edition. A lot of the Facebook groups are great for models and terrain. Even just standard Facebook marketplace can have some bargains on. A lot of my best buys are from local gaming group members that are happy to let stuff go for a bit cheaper knowing they’ll be put back onto a battlefield rather than sat in a cupboard going musty.

I started collecting an army for Fantasy about 1 1/2 years ago for high elves. It was a pain back then pricewise but not nearly as bad as it is now. It took me some time to get some white lions but finally managed to find some for a reasonable price. I've pretty much got everything now. Mostly painted up. Now I'm trying to find some grail knights for brets. Absolute pain in the rear trying to find them for anywhere close to a price I'm willing to pay.
@MiniModelMakes2 жыл бұрын
Cavalry seems to be a pain for most of the OOP stuff. Also been getting some empire knights for my eldest son. So difficult! I hope you stumble onto a good grail knight deal soon. I’m hazarding a guess they are some of the rarest and dearest models to try get hold of. Certainly put me off getting a Bret army. One of the armies I adored playing with in 6th Ed
